I have never seen it complete an area without any travel paths to complete a miss. They changed something in the new firmware. It’s worth noting that NGZ perim is off, but still.
It also just completed the last area by taking the perim back to point close the pathway. I hope these weren’t flukes. They look intentional.
Here’s the path where it jumps back to other side of NGZ. It’s on the perim! (Ignore the Pathway, not referring to that) Don’t recall any mention of this in release notes.
This is a difficult area. No improvements in mowing around NGZs. I wouldn’t mind the travel paths quite as much if would just turn OFF the blades between destinations. That’s what makes it so visibly obvious. That seems simple my little head.
True, yesterday I did no go zones around 3 trees as I was doing memory mapping anyway for trimmer. Before I just let yarbo find the trees, it was fine. Today I ran one of the plans and come out and see cut lines in the yard from where it finish boundary laps to tree to tree. I was like WTF is this. And then I remembered it was a yarbo thing.
I take about 20-30 mins once or twice a month and go touch up a few spots here and there. I can do that when it’s cool out in the evenings and at my leisure. Yarbo makes the yard look nice and most people don’t see the missed spots along the boundary anyways. Checkerboard gets all the missed stuff from the path planning issues in area. Certainly beats spending 2 hours a week out in the hot weather, pollen, dust, etc trying to keep it mowed and maintained.
I’ve let Gentle Touch handle some trees this year for the first time. I’m selective on the size and surrounding roots. It seems like up to about 30" diameter it does pretty decent. My firepit which is about 48" causes the algorithm issues. Once it turns back in for a 2nd hit all bets are off. I end up with lots of missed perimeter. It also can’t reliably decide which side of a large obstacle it should favor and turns back across the wider section of the circle. NGZ re-enabled for these
On side note and just an observation. I have a suspended baby swing. Yes, I know this is no-no, but I made sure it was high enough. It sees it, slows down waiting for a bumper hit, which isn’t gonna happen, then speeds back up when under it. I can see how people run into trouble here.
One of my issues with missing spots is I have 3 border collies that don’t care if they are in the way for yarbo. They are like moving targets for yarbo. That is why I usually don’t do gentile touch, only as needed early season with dandelions.
