Installed CPU fan and small solar panel. Temperature drop of 7 degrees C. Solves my overheat problem during charging and cutting. Fan installed in a 2" hole in battery cover to suck air through bottom and out top. 5000 rpm fan and 3 watt solar panel does it for me.

Got any pics you can share? How are you keeping water out of the battery box?

I will post some pics later. I’m not worried about the water. Battery case should be sealed so waterproof anyway. Could put a shroud over the fan if needed with rear exit opening. Works for me. I have two Yarbos on my golf course. The one with the fan is running at 37C the one without 44C

@Yarbo-Forum you guys should do this even if it’s only an optional accessory. I think trickle charging should be the interim solution when above 46C.

Totally agree! Mine stops charging in the middle of the day. I life near Beacon NY and temps are around 92 (33 C) and my battery goes always over 50. Today I’ve put some icepacks on my battery while charging 😜. It worked.
But this is the disadvantage of wireless charging, battery heats up. Same as with phones. Best solution would be a fan in the charging bad that blows into the battery compartment while charging.

Only problem with a fan in the docking station is the winter time. Snow and ice wouldn’t mix well with that nor when cleaning the dock with the S1.

Interesting that cooling packs worked. Maybe Peltier cooling could work.

</div>

Snow and ice could easily be avoided with some heat from the charging pad. They always generate some heat so the snow would melt and a little drain would do the rest. Or just take it out during winter because it is not needed 😎. Just my 2 cents.

</div>

Seems like a summer battery cover with a fan would do wonders. We just need to get some air moving across the battery pack. Switch back to a solid winter cover when heating is needed.

I’d like to see a peltier cooler on the battery that saps a little power to actively cool the battery when overheated

Supposedly they tried this in the early prototypes and it didn’t end well. Melting water, freezing, melting, freezing. Lots of ice and expansion. Not a good thing.

I have one I think what should be in sufficient size. 310mm times 310mm build plate. Send me a 3D file and I will printi it out 🙂

With thermoelectric, you’d still need to move some air over the plate to take the heat somewhere else.

I am mowing at night this summer because of the overheating battery. Not really a problem, have 3 acres to mow and can’t hear it anyway. I would like to add this fan. Does anyone know if there is a place on the unit to pull 5 volts for the fan and maybe only while its active?

There’s not one I’d recommend. Some have used solar panels with no issues.

Interestingly I added bright white tape to the top of my battery cover and it did not over heat today. 1st time mowing that an overheat did not occur since getting mower a month ago. This was a tip I saw somewhere on this forum, covering the black with white…
