Bumper usually detects collisions, but yesterday i was surprised that while mowing the deadend yarbo had track slippage. This is how I found Yarbo. Front bumper smashed into tree, yarbo tried to move forward. Could there be something wrong with front bumper?
No, it’s a lot less sensitive on the corners
There could be. I’ve had a couple bumper failures. I would check it manually while idle. It will speak “collision occurred” you can check that specific spot on the bumper and a few others.
Hi there, you can try what @cobradunn suggested to check whether there’s an issue with the bumper itself. If it doesn’t respond properly during the test, please contact our Support team so we can assist you further.
Ok. I did the test and results are bad.
Sensor works on both sides, but not in front, which is unfortunate, because I prefer mowing with Gentle contact setting.
Shall I raise a support ticket? How this can be fixed?
Yarbo will send you a new bumper for you to install.
I’d definitely get a support ticket in. You could try removing the bumper and see if maybe one of the cables came undone or something. I’m guessing it wouldn’t work at all then, but you could get lucky and maybe that will just fix it.
Ok. Submitted the ticket.
But if it has failed, it’s alarming, as the whole mower module was replaced for me this june. 4-5 months of mowing and bumper is dead … what costs would that make after the warranty is over?
I can’t imagine that bumper is that expensive. Is it bumping into a lot of things?
Maybe that is the strategy all alone, crappy sensor and vision = ram into everything = bumper sales going up after warranty period.
Well .. usually it should not … but .. we all know Yarbo’s love to sneak it’s nose or back into NGZs .. - so it gets collision in many cases with NGZs and then I have an area with lots of birch trees, where it’s impossible to draw each and every tree, so I have marked the largest ones and then let yarbo manage the rest.
Curious what speed you run your plans at? I have a zone where I let it bump into a telephone pedestal all the time. Been doing it for two years so far. But I run at slowest speed.
Medium, moderate or whatever is the name of that middle one.
I do not have luxury of time to run at much lower speed.
But the Gentle contact by design should slow down the yarbo in case it sees the obstacle to collide with it at low speed … so the collision speed usually should be very low .. at least by design.
Sharing a funny story regarding the support ticket.
I’ve submitted ticket stating that bumper is not working and added the same video.
1st response was to: take off the bumper and check whether the issue still exists ![]()
Of course - If I remove the bumper, then the issue will still exist - collisions will not be detected. ![]()
Most bumpers fail saying there is a collision and can’t be cleared, so the AI support bots are trained on that issue. Sometimes the bots give just stupid answers.
Yeah, but then I answer with questions what exactly shall I check and get the response “thank you for checking and confirming the issue. Please post a photo of the removed bumper and we will ship you new one” ![]()
Darn Chinese bots
drop your ticket number here for @Yarbo-Forum to follow up on. Removing the bumper when it partially works is a bad solution and frankly a waste of your time. You’ve proven in the video that there is an issue. That should be good enough.
Hi there, we’re really sorry for the inconvenience and for the confusion caused by the earlier response.
I’ve checked your support ticket and confirmed that the replacement has already been initiated. This should resolve the issue with the front bumper sensor.
If the issue still remains after the replacement is installed, please let me know and I’ll help follow up with the team.
