I was mowing a secion of my lawn the other day and the yarbo went below the 20% threshhold like usual. However, when it went to charge it parked in the wrong spot. Still not an issue, as i know the area and it often has some GNSS issues. The system generates a map drift error after a while. Makes sense, then the map drift can be corrected and it can go along its business. However, this time I had to remote control the unit back to the charge pad. All is fine, but the unit will not automatically start to charge. Usually I just press the battery level indicator and it begins to charge. However, while the unit is mid-session this is not an option. The only option is to hit recharge on the remote control screen. That doesn’t work becaue it rehomes the unit. However if it’s in map drift then it tries to go to the wrong location, not the charging station. Maybe I’m missing something but it would be conveniet if the app allowed the user to manually activate recharge while in a session instead of having to cancel the session The issue, I think revolves around the fact that while the yarbo is charging the map drift doesn’t always correct properly because its heading is 0. Either way, it would be convenient if i could just manually get it to charge without needing to cancel the current session in these cases. Any thoughts on this?.
You shouldn’t be seeing map drift. It sounds like your dock may be in an obstructed location. Does the map drift clear up if you drive it out into an open area or leave the app opened for a while? Have you made sure the app, core firmware, and DC firmware are all up to date?
Hi there, thanks for the suggestion. If we hear the same request from more users, I’ll be happy to pass it along to our product team for consideration.

Hi Bryan,
Thanks for responding. I have 4.5 acres of complex lawn with lots of tree cover. Occasionally, I get map drift. Everything is up to date. Usually map drift is after bad weather or power outages or combination thereof, so not really concerned there. Map drift is usually just a few feet. So in this specific case, I think it got map drift while it was out and about close to the 20% battery threshold so it tried to park in the wrong spot. Had to manually drive it to the docking station. Since it was mid-session i didn’t want to end the session. I just wanted to be able to initiate charge and correct map driftid session so i didnt have to create a new session. Not a big deal, just thought it might be convenient to add at some point. The docking station location is fine. I was just short on time and wanted to get it charged instead of having to wait for it to self-correct.
Does it show centered on the dock when it is parking on the dock or does it show accurately off to the side of the dock when it’s actively docking? If it shows off to the side in the app and also IRL, then it isn’t drift, it’s something else. What is your current DC firmware version out of curiosity?
Hi Bryan,
DC version is V1.1.11
So previously (a little history, if that’s ok), a few months ago I had a failed antenna. It was a mess that resulted in the loss of my entire map and the little guy being parked for over a month, until the tech group could get the unit out of " beta tow mode" (you can look up the tickets) due to a poorly timed upgrade push. Since then, I installed a new antenna, remapped the yard and it’s all been going pretty well. The few times I’ve noticed the “map drift” issue since the antenna failure, the little guy’s been parked a few feet away from the dock irl but on the dock in the map. To solve this I’d go out into the yard and manually move him to the dock, at which point, the Yarbo, or as my son calls it-“The Yard Bro”, would then show up as somewhere shifted from the dock. The little red “map drift” icon would eventually show up, in the meantime, I’d check that the diagnostic page values were acceptable. Once all was confirmed, i’d navigate to the “correct map drift” option in the menu, press it, and watch the location of the dock on the map realign with the the location of the Yarbo, and everything would be alright. Overall, this is a fairly painless process and I’m hoping that once the new enhanced antennas ship, this will happen even less. Thanks for putting thought into this.
Thanks for the background, that’s helpful. You definitely sound like you are experiencing actual map drift. That’s not something that you should be experiencing though. It should almost never happen. Do you have an active support ticket on that issue? If not, I would recommend one and include any times you can recall it happening.
Hi you can just hit recharge it will pause the Jop and go recharge when you want it to go hit resume. I did this the other night and resumed the next day.
