i’ve owned my Yarbo now for about one month and have started small to work my way big and have been overall pleased, but having intermittent technical issues as you would expect with a computerized lawnmower. Living in North Florida the grass is quite aggressive and every job that I’ve asked the Yarbo to handle it’s been doing great currently working with a Yarbo pro with a fixed blades. However, I keep having a recurring problem and that is Mat drift. That seems to be at times irreversible. I initially installed the data center temporarily to make sure this thing works on my property and then once I was convinced, I installed it permanently on the eve of my house at tallest peak and then I completely remapped my entire yard. That was about a week and a half ago when everything was mapped out and it cut successfully for a week and I was thoroughly enjoying the moment. However, now I am having a problem with a map drift not correcting in my entire yard, shifting West by 6 feet. This occurred after we had a major storm system coming through but overall everything is still working #DATA Center Yarbo and all as it’s supposed to minus the map strip. Does anyone have any suggestions? Other than remapping my entire yard again before I have to do this? The data center again is at the peak of the house in the center of the yard and I have perfect signal and we cut right at 4 acres of land with this guy.
.
Of Note I did relocate the charging station in this process, but I don’t see that causing the map drift issue I’m having.
I’ll be honest my experience trying to use the map drift correction functionality has never worked out very well. I just use my original mapping and never correct drift when i see the warning and it works perfectly assuming you make sure you have great GPS signal when you start the job.
One thing you can try if you haven’t is restoring your maps from a previous backup. This resets to the “drift correction” at the time of backup but note, while it will restore the previous map it will wipe your previous “jobs” (work plan, and the assigned areas, dead ends, etc.) and if I recall correctly also resets the area settings to default. Maybe some of this was changed in recent updates but I don’t think I noticed any of it in recent update notes. It’s definitely wise to create a manual maps backup immediately after mapping for this reason.
What is your DC firmware version at? Did you relocate the docking station before or after you successfully corrected for map drift? The docking station is the anchor for the drift correction. If you move it while it is drifted, you can’t successfully correct for the drift because it’s going to move the map around based on the previous location AFAIK.
Hi there, sorry to hear about the map drift issue you’re experiencing.
Based on your description, this may be related to the docking station being relocated. When performing Map Drift Correction, the docking station is used as the reference point for the map’s coordinate system. If the docking station is moved and you then perform drift correction afterward, the system may adjust the entire map based on the docking station’s new position, which can result in the whole map shifting accordingly.
Since you mentioned that the entire map has shifted by about 6 feet, the docking station relocation could be an important factor here. Before remapping the whole property, we’d recommend checking whether the drift correction was performed after the docking station was moved.
So I did relocate it as i had been having overheating issues . BUT after relocating and since original post things have only
gotten more frustrating.. i was remapping my yard and kept losing signal. and making me retrace previous steps to regain signal. I had encountered this when I first temporarily installed the data station. Checked all my connections on antennas as well as reinstalled my data center from scratch, and then reinstall the docking station however, in my attempts, I continue to drop signal. Currently have a ticket open for Yarbo to look at it. I believe my data center has been faulty all along because I was also experiencing Mat drift as well as drop signal on the beginning. This at one point occurred daily and I could never complete a job until suddenly hitting a streak of 1 1/2 weeks. Overall, when working appropriately, I love this thing. I’ve only had it for a month and I just hope that I can get the bugs out.
please see my replies on the open ticket for Mat drifter on my account. I deleted my entire map and attempted to start over. However, now even with my data center in the same location where I received perfect signal on my entire property now seems to have lost areas even within feet of the #DATA center. I reinstalled my data center and docking station this morning and where it had previously been the docking station would not reinstall because of “loss of signal“. I manually drove the Yarbo to the base of the data center with open skies and 360 view and still was saying I was too far from the receiver. I redock it and added more photos and definition of issues on that open ticket however, I just tried it again and now I have great signal and it let me installed the docking station once more. It seems every time that I get things mapped out and it cuts suddenly it loses signal, or I guess some form of a map drift issue.
I think if your DC is having issues, you can overcome this with NetRTK. Please post screenshots of your diagnostics here first though. RTK, status, Data Center, and HaLow sections. Also tap the yellow details under RTK and post the DC scatterplot survey (if it will load, if not, don’t worry about it). I want to see if it might be the core vs the DC.
This. A pretty good way to determine if the problem is the Core or the DC.
Hi there, we’re truly sorry to hear that you’re still experiencing the map drift issue. Our team is currently investigating this issue, and I will also help follow up on your ticket and escalate it if needed.
We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work toward identifying the cause and finding a solution for you.
Ticket # 230593 still open
today I had the Yarbo team me telling me to reinstall my docking station 3 feet from my house as I had supplied them photos sure it was closer to the house in their instructions.. Not only did I do this, and I have no effect and then relocated the docking station to my patio directly under the #DATA center. This did install, but would intermittently lose signal so I drove the Yarbo around to an area that was ideal for me with perfect signals initially. After successfully install of the docking station, I begin to map the yard again and the signal suddenly dropped within feet of the data center, which is why I purposely started mapping the yard in that area. I sent Yarbo the reply, email and videos showing a flashing yellow light on the data center as well as multiple screen, recordings, and video of where the yarbo was in correlation with the Data center as well as the charging station. At this point, it just doesn’t make sense to why when I drive my Yarbo away from the docking station. The range from the docking station seems to be what is registering as out of range but even so it is still within 50 feet of the docking station and data center during these test.
If the DC was flashing yellow, this means you probably clicked the yellow details under diagnostics and went into survey mode. It should reboot after you back out of the survey mode. What is your HaLow signal strength at the dock and when you lose GPS, what does your diagnostics look like?
currently at docking station it is green 0.0m and the signal is “excellent “
when i drive towards the data center ( withing 50 ft or less) it goes as far as 0.99 and won’t map
In your diagnostics screen, scroll down until you see HaLow. Post the signal strength and status (true/false). Screenshots are good too.
here is what i had when i last tried to map. Again remember i have had this for a month and had it set up and working. The dropped signs happened in the very beginning and the Yarbo team told me to swap the antennas . so not the signal drop is more frequent and will make me back track areas when trying to map that i had on a cutting schedule uninterrupted for 2 weeks. Also not sure of the rain sensor reading but today it was reading 800s hours after there was a light rain. Never had values that high.
Ok, you’re on NetRTK and if you are losing internet connection that could possibly explain the GPS drop out but other than the RTK status 5 and quality, things look good. DC RTK isn’t in question here, but it does look good as well. Hopefully @Yarbo-Forum can check on that ticket for you and get a more up to date status and resolution soonest for you. I’m leaning towards a software bug right now based on what I am seeing and hearing.
Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue. I’ve escalated your case to our FSE team, and they’ll investigate it as soon as possible.
Thanks for the assist.. the NETRTK was on but whenever I change it back to the data center I keep having signal drop when trying to map the yard still.
Thanks for sharing the update and the additional details. I’ve passed all of this information along to our team to help with the diagnosis. We’ll take a closer look at what may be causing the signal drops when using the Data Center.
Turn cellular in the rover on. Make sure the rover isn’t connected to WiFi. Disable Bluetooth on your phone. Disable WiFi on your phone. The network timeouts are a drop in communication with the core. It didn’t fully load the diagnostics section because of this. This sometimes happens with Bluetooth. Disabling Bluetooth and WiFi temporarily on your phone will force your phone to use cellular and eliminate any drop outs that might be happening. This assumes you have ok cellular on your property. Drive the core to the area where it’s dropping GPS during mapping and capture the diagnostics there.
I did exactly as you recommended, but did not even have to go far from my charging station once I turned on cellular and turned off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both devices my signal drop. Now remind you, I do live in a ok cell service area, but I still had service on my cell phone and was able to drive the Yarbo around without issue on cell signal . the photo shows how close i am to data center on roof
