Maybe we could have a possible bypass when yarbo is at 20% left and it need one min to finish area.

You can pause the plan and edit the threshold down to 15% for return to charge. Then resume. A little inconvenient, but doable.

We understand that in situations like this, allowing Yarbo to finish its task before returning to the docking station would be the most efficient solution. We’ll pass your feedback to our product team to see if there’s a way to optimize the recharging process during a work plan. Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

I love this and think of it similar to taking my EV on a roadtrip. It knows how much charge will be needed to get me to the destination and factors that into the plan. It also knows that I don’t always need to charge to 100% to finish the job.

So to expand this thought a bit, if the rover can forecast that the job can be completed (including return to the charging pad) with an XX% buffer, then continue the job.

On the other hand, isn’t that the point of this battery threshold setting? And is there a reason why 20% makes more sense than 5%. (in my EV, charging is faster between certain percentages and weather conditions)

</div>

For battery health you don’t usually want to go below 20% or above 80% frequently.

</div>

But there isn’t a way to limit it to 80% that I can find. Mine charges to 100%, unless it is in the middle of a plan and hits the 15% limit to return to the charger, in which case it charges to 80%, completes the plan, then comes back and charges to 100%.

</div>

It’s managing it in the background. As far as I can tell 100% just means more than 80% based on whatever the BMS determines is optimal.

@Bryan.wheeler For anyone new to Yarbo, the BMS is the Battery Maintenance System, correct?

Correct, Battery Management System. It’s a typical component for lithium batteries.

This. Super annoying that I’m at 98% complete on a job, and it has to go back to recharge for god knows how long to finish the last 2%. let me just manually run it to finish it.

I agree rechargeable batteries are best kept between 20% and 80% , BUT isn’t that simply a software issue with Yarbo? The BMS as you mention.

Yarbo software can display battery percentages taking into account the 20% at either end of the range for proper battery health. When the software displays “100%” the battery is actually at 80-ish%. Similar displaying 20% when the physical battery is at 40-ish%.

If we don’t have access to the last 20% it should not be displayed to us. I have a typical suburban 1 acre lawn with the Charging Station centrally located. The farthest point in my Map takes less than 3% battery to return to the Charging Station. Why can’t I choose my lower threshold to be 10% or even 5% (if I want to live on the edge)? It would mean the difference of completing the mowing in 3-to-6+ less hours. This matters when you’re in a HOA community with limits on when the mower can run.

It would be like my vehicles gas gauge. It can read 0% yet there are a few more miles it will drive. There is even a hilarious Seinfeld episode about this.

Yes I do believe Yarbo should give users more control over the charging levels and thresholds. I want my battery on the dock not to exceed 80% but before a scheduled plan, I would like it to charge up to 100% automatically and then go to work. Especially for the snow blower. I did lower one of my cores down to 15% for the back yard because most of the time that will let it complete the entire back yard, but sometimes it still has about 9 mins left in the plan. Would be really nice if it would either top off enough to complete the task or just be smart enough to know it can complete it with the battery it has left and just do it and then go recharge.
