Has anyone experimented with ways to self clean the blades, shaft and general blower?

Lubricants only offer a temporary fix if at all. IMO

I was thinking four oblong slightly weighted rubber belts placed on the shaft. One at each end and one on either side of the gear box.

When the auger spins these spin independently knocking off snow and preventing accumulation.

The blower runs an anti-freeze cycle on all moving components regularly if you have that enabled in the app. IMO, everything else should self clear during subsequent uses. I only brush stuff off the top as it builds up, if it doesn’t fall off on it’s own. The core seems to shed on it’s own pretty well but the blower gets a lot of build up between the chute and the bumper.

I have the anti freeze enabled but snow still sticks to the shaft, blades, scoop and gear box. This is largely dependent on temperature but it has been an annoyance.

I imagine the imbalance created be asymmetrical snow build up can’t be good for the shaft bearings and gear box.

I know I’ve seen belts like I described used in another application but I don’t remember where. Old brain 🫩

The auger isn’t spinning all that fast, the impeller should be cleaning itself well, it’s going super fast. Or are you seeing other issues?

It is working well but snow sticks and requires cleaning. Any snowblower does the same in our area. In the last week it has operated in -20 to 0 C.

Part of what’s going on is I am able to watch it function, because on its automation, and my brain insists on trying to improve it. 😉

I was just wondering if there are like minded people out there who have tried to fix this.

There’s a guy on FB that wax coated and put an impeller kit on. Said it really helped with wet snow. I won’t be drilling into my impeller, but it would be nice to have a factory option that wouldn’t void your warranty.

The only location I’ve had an issue with snow sticking is underneath, or if to much builds on the front of the blower and throws off balance, anywhere else is cosmetic?

It will eventually get stuck and high centered with the slightest bump or accumulation. The ground clearance effectively goes to zero. It’s tight packed snow and it just packs tighter and tighter. The tracks won’t get any grip, and then even if they do it’ll get that front end up and over something and then try to reverse, pack more snow in and it spirals. It can’t even move on flat terrain at that point.
Doesn’t look like it should be getting stuck:

You can also hear the snow getting crushed between the core and the module:

You can’t brush it off with your hand, I either kick it off with my boot or this morning I had the yarbo stick I was able the chip and scrape it off:

To be honest, I don’t recall ever really looking at the bottom of my core for accumulated snow like that. Interesting seeing how much was under yours.

My Yarbo is off running another snowblowing job right now. Maybe when it gets done I’ll talk myself into going out there to see what’s underneath.

As long as it doesn’t start getting stuck driving on cleared areas 😁 Sometimes it’ll drop off like a turd:
