NetRTK I tried it, I think?

Ok first I did the refurb core, I had it sitting on the dock, instructions said to drive it out in the open, so I did that with my phone as initialize was greyed out. Went back in the app, and now all I can do is change from one to the other, but it spins and then stops, doesn’t let me initialize it. Drove it manually back to the dock, it had map drift so I assume I am now on netRTK? Fixed map drift and sent it out to mow.

New core, so ok now I know you need to drive it out in the open, so I did that to start. Initialize came up and and hit it, it just closes so I assume this one is working. Drive it manually to the dock, it has about the same map drift as the last core , so I hit map drift and go to send it out to mow, BUT…

I have no maps, it cleared them all out and all settings. I did not hit the relocate stuff to clear maps, so this map disapearing is not on me. So I restore old map, and then re install all my settings and send it out to mow.

So far they are both out there working.

Question is there a way to know for sure you are on netRTK? Does data center connection : 4 mean netRTK is being used?

Yes, DC connection 4 means NetRTK

NetRTK has been 100% reliable for me. To be honest, I keep forgetting all about it, which is probably the best praise I could give. It just works.

I have multiple bots using NetRTK this year. Zero complaints.

Same

So if I were to take one of my cores to my parents house and use NetRTK there, I have a spare brand new DC do I just plug that in some where at his house like in the garage and hook it up by ethernet and and poe injector and it will be good to go? I get I would need to click on the text in netRTK area that would delete all my current maps. But do I need to pair the dc to the core at all since it was never connected to it? I know I could do cell or wifi, but I would want to make sure everything works 100%, no failures.

If you want to use HaLow, you would need to “Reinstall Data Center” in the app and then relocate your yard for NetRTK (if it’s outside of the 20km radius).

Since you can run NetRTK, you might be better off to just use 4G at your parent’s house and no DC at all.

Or you could also use their WiFi if they have good coverage in the yard. I’d probably try 4G first though.

That way, you wouldn’t have to worry about messing up your existing maps. Unless I’m missing something…. @bryan.wheeler keep me honest here…

Their wifi is not that great, starlink in the basement, with only two nodes on the first floor of their house. Actually they only had one till I installed one in their garage for the Lymow they have. And cellular sucks where they live.

I think I have to loose the maps because of the distance from my house, not based on the DC.

If under 20km away, possibly can do it, but haven’t seen someone do it yet. Otherwise you lose the maps. 4G is fine, but if it’s going to be the routine use, might run out of data. HaLow with local DC positioning is going to be the most stable/reliable, but if internet is good, NetRTK will work fine too.

Hi, thanks for sharing the detailed feedback. It’s great to hear that both Cores are now working properly.

Regarding your question, yes, Data Center Connection = 4 indicates that NetRTK is being used, meaning the RTK correction data is currently provided through the network connection.

For the abnormal behavior you observed during the initialization process, especially the map disappearing issue, this may require further investigation from our support team. Please feel free to update the details in your support ticket so our team can review the logs and investigate further.

Thanks again for sharing your experience. Your feedback is very helpful for us to better understand and improve the setup process.
