How do you know where start and end are? Assuming it’s in relation to the direction the path was drawn? What if you don’t remember how you drew it? 
I believe the default is center of the pathway. The range offset would be how far from that center you want to go (either to the left or right). And my guess would be that the direction offset would be from the view of transit from the docking station to the area. I have not verified this though.
If only they had the wiki updated at the same time they released updates…
One of the change should to don’t have the use of pathway if there is cross area.
Without this this is the same path to go thru each zone.
The worst is at the beginnig or end of pathway if yarbo need turning.
