Perimeter only job

Scenario - I need a way to cut the perimeter only (edges) without mowing the area (main body of the lawn). This could include both the area perimeter and no-go zones edges. Why? Similar to trimming, running the edge only can quickly clean up a otherwise disheveled looking lawn. And the edges often grow more quickly due to moisture building up there.

Maybe set your plan to run perimeter laps first, then cancel it once that’s done?

Sounds like something Yardstick or Home assistant could help with. Set the perimeter cut first and then cancel the job when the perimeter is complete.

Yep, that’s what I do but looking for something fully automated so I don’t forget to cancel the job.

If you haven’t checked out Yardstick, you should. I don’t think this feature is currently available, but it might be possible since perimeters and areas are really two separate tasks. Posting this request there is my suggestion.

I have a similar issue with my main field (1 acre). I setup a no-go zone in the middle that I can turn on and off.

That’s a creative solution.

What about as simple as using dead ends around the perimeter?

Do you want it backing up afterwards?

Good question. I’m fine with that, especially if it’s double-cutting then, once forward, once backward.

I would say give it a shot then. Just make sure you watch it for a few runs and that it is doing exactly what you want and expect. I’d make sure to not get too close to things either, it needs some room to maneuver.

And be cautious because it can try to do dead ends in reverse, it is a known issue they just refuse to fix.

If you go this route watch it closely. You might change your mind after you try it :slightly_smiling_face:

Oh interesting…I actually saw this the other day. My Yarbo ran my dead-end in the reverse direction, opposite of how I recorded it. I never saw that before. Is this what you’re referring to?

Yes that is exactly it, same for sidewalks and memory paths.

It will default to this if the rear of the core is close to the entrance of the dead end when that dead end work plan kicks off.
