Favor to ask. Could I get some honest feedback on the Trimmer and your use case / setup? Thinking about getting one but would like some honest feedback on it. What is the setup like / what is your area like that you trim, etc. Reliability, mapping process, etc.
Thanks in advance!
Mine personally has never worked long enough to get use it much. It worked when I first got it, then it no longer showed in the app. After about a week with Yarbo support it worked again. Then I had to get a refurbished core for other reasons, and after over 2 weeks with support it still does not work on the refurbished core yet.
They did get it working on another core I just bought, took support a week to get it working on that core. I still can’t use it as support wants it attached to the refurbished core while they work on it for weeks.
When I did use it some it seems to work, but has limitations in its design and for sure in its software.
My opinion I would wait on getting one till the issues are worked out.
Thank you @B-Mod - that is exactly what I will do then.
After a bit of an ordeal, I got my trimmer working, and it is almost exactly what I expected it to be.
Because of the combined size of Yarbo + Mower + Trimmer, it’s a large package. That means it can be a bit awkward trimming in tight spaces. Trimming around things like trees can be done, but it’s not going to be as perfect as a person with a weed wacker.
Memory paths will be your best friend. It’s like recording exactly what you want Yarbo to do, and theoretically it will repeat the actions each time. In practice, they aren’t 100% accurate, so again, it’s gonna miss spots occasionally.
One annoyance is the lever effect: The Trimmer is on the end of a long arm on the rear of Yarbo. So when Yarbo drives over bumps or inclines, the trimmer will raise above the desired cutting height of the grass. And the opposite also happens, with the trimmer impacting the ground and digging into the dirt. So ideally it’s best used on flat land for the best results.
So I like it?? Yes. Am I glad I bought it?? Yes. Is it perfect? No. But I knew that in advance.
@mike1 - wait until next year
Greatly said, @rgloverii, you described 100% of what I have also experienced with Trimmer.
Wait until it gets improved… I’m returning it due to a wire line error that keeps occurring.
Thanks everyone - I’ll be waiting until next season at the earliest which probably means 2 years given issue backlog.
I would assume the trimmer will continue to improve over time. It’s a great idea, and Yarbo is the first robot mower company to do it.
Currently, I’d say the Yarbo trimmer takes care of maybe 75% of my overall trimming needs so far. And it could do more. I just haven’t bothered to teach it every possible trimming location yet.
it won’t get to 100% for me, but I would venture to guess it could get to >90%.
What mine doesn’t get automatically (does long straight lines and gentle curves well), I use it manually. I spray the rest with 365 day grass killer.
For me, it’s things like telephone poles. Yes, I can teach Yarbo to trim them. But I feel like it’s overkill having Yarbo do it versus me just going and hitting the poles with the weed wacker.
