Why Yarbo lights are automatically turning on every night

My Yarbo lights are automatically turning on every night and I had to manually turn them off. Yarbo is on charging dock when lights turn on. And they stay on day/night until I turn them off.

This article helps explain why. If you are using the Home Assistant plugin, be sure the mode isn’t set to working and is set to sleeping.

I don’t get what Yarbo is trying to accomplish by constantly discharging to 80% and recharging to 100%. There is no Lion battery management strategy I’ve ever encountered that does this.

What is Charge Cycles?
A charge cycle refers to the process of charging a battery from 0% to 100%, but it’s not just about counting from zero to full. For instance, if you charge your battery from 50% to 100% today and then do the same tomorrow, it counts as one full charge cycle.

Why Should We Care about Charge Cycles?
This affects your battery’s lifespan, performance, and cost. Keeping an eye on charge cycles is crucial for the safety of your devices. Proper management can prevent potential battery malfunctions and hazards, and ensure your devices operate seamlessly. To preserve your battery, avoid deep discharges, use the right charger, manage heat, do partial charges, and store it properly when not in use.

How to Extend your Battery’s Charge Cycle Life?

Mind the Range
Charging your battery between 20% and 80% is the sweet spot. This range helps reduce stress and prolongs battery life.

Avoid the Extremes
Never let your battery discharge fully (<0%) or charge all the time (always 100%). It puts undue stress on the battery, reducing its lifespan.

Stay Cool
High temperatures are detrimental to a battery. It is essential that batteries are charged within the stated range of 0°C to 35°C.

is this (70%-80%), good for the battery?

My preference would be for their BMS to maintain ~80% state of charge, then charge to 100% just before a scheduled task.

There should also be a way to manually initiate a 100% charge on demand.

My guess is the wireless charger is either on full blast or it’s off. There is no maintain ability. I don’t know why, maybe another design decision. Meanwhile the batteries are busy using up charge cycles. A battery that should’ve lasted 5 to 7 years will be dead in to 2-3. Just buy another, they’re only $1,100. I’d be happy if someone presented a case disputing mine, haven’t seen it yet.

I think you’re right. :frowning:
