I love the smart vision concept (now in beta) that features first person views through the cameras allowing the user to drive the Yarbo as if they were sitting inside it. I make use of the feature to get Yarbo unstuck.
It has been my experience that Smart Vision runs the Yarbo at slow speed. However, there are times when the extra torque of “high speed" is needed to get Yarbo free.
Please consider adding a speed toggle and height slider to the Smart Vision remote control in a similar layout as the standard remote in the app.
Realistically, what was your experience with the snowblower? This will be my first season with it. Really looking forward to not having to use the manual snowblower anymore.
It was good results. I have 2 very long driveways, and large parking lot area, and it did both good. My driveways and parking lot are granite stone, so you have a few challenges. You have to get a base of snow to pack down so you don’t blow as many rocks. Once I have that base it works great. In the spring the new challenge is base is gone and sometimes the granite is not froze, so then it can get stuck pushing threw wet snow and spining the granite, then getting stuck. This winter I will be adding weight to the Yarbo, and that also will help a ton with it getting stuck. Is it set and go? No. But I can babysit it and let it do most of the work.
The S1 has the usual challenge of dealing with slush or salted banks from the town plow, as does every snow blower. Those can be worked around with some fiddling, but there’s some experimentation needed.
The S1 does have an issue with uneven pavement. If you’ve got some whoops where years of parking has made the pavement sink an inch where the tires always go, the S1 will generally have an issue clearing down to the pavement if you try to cross them. Basically the scraper will dig in, and Yarbo will treat it as getting stuck, lift the module, and try until it works - but it’ll leave snow behind.
If you path along them, though, the S1 will work great. It’s pretty straightforward once you figure that out.
Going in the app to remote control lower the auger to the lowest 0 so it compacts the snow and lifts up the robot a little, then rise it to the maximum 6.1 then get out of the controller, go the smart vision and then go back or FWD, 7 our of 10 times I will manage to get it unstuck this way. Please add the auger up and down controller to the smart vision(all controllers will be even better but if not at least this trick works welll, you could if not add a quick smart bottom that does this down and up a couple of times to help getting unstuck.
Thanks for that tip Omar! I will try that during the next snow if Yarbo gets stuck.
I love your idea of putting all controllers onto the SmartVision GUI. Perhaps they can add all of the appropriate controls by module. So if the snowblower is attached, we get all of the snowblower controls in SmartVision, and if the Mower is attached, we get all the mower controls in Smartvision.
Glad to hear that Alvin, I used it to like 7 times today some worked some didn’t, Yarbo does not do well with fresh snow in pathways or sidewalks if in terrain (grass or gravel) the programming does not make sense when it tries to turn even if only a few degrees not rising he auger automatically first, as it just hits the sidewalk sidewalks. @Yarbo-Forum
