I don’t know if it’s related but core used to say things and commands but now it’s mute
I monitored my battery drain today. What I notice is that when you start a plan with a full 100% charge the battery holds up pretty well. Of course with the snow and temperatures it is not like in summer time. But decent.
But when it go to recharge (80%) and it continues the same plan with similar conditions the battery drain is much higher.
Any reason for this?
Could it be that the first 20% (from 100% to 80%) last longer then below 80%. I’m not a battery specialist but I am observing this.
I noticed the same thing well over a year ago when I got my 24 unit. I mentioned it and one of the seasoned 23 users said that’s what it does. Probably the same concept as why that last 20% takes longer to charge.
Here is mine
About the battery. Software is probably measuring cell voltage and guesstimating the percentage. So when it says 100% it’s basing that on the voltage then program keeps pinging the battery voltage amidst multiple processes. You shouldn’t have prolonged usage for first 20% of the charge if li-ion battery is charged to 100% you get optimal usage, charge and lifecycle by using battery between 75%-35%. I believe rover’s program is not keeping accurate track, it’s measuring one static voltage and forgetting that other processes heating the battery, simultaneous voltage draw PLUS outside temperature fluctuations DOES AFFECT THE BATTERY. In a nutshell, battery is incorrectly sized for the unit. Otherwise it should do more than 500 cycles they claim it does.
If you reboot your core, does it say “Ready to work?” Mine always does and if I connect to the core within a few mins of that, I get the “App controller connected” and then it goes mute, like I prefer. Based on your screenshot, yours should be a chatterbox.
For the battery, yeah it could be a very rudimentary guesstimate. Probably samples the voltage every X mins and does some fuzzy math.
It used to say that, but it stopped. I think Yarbo tech support maybe disabled it while working on it via backdoor. I’m just waiting for it to start speaking Chinese with open mic, remember Ring?
Anywho, It’s pretty frustrating to have a real problem and deal with it in Chinese central time via EMAIL, yes email only in which you may or may not get response.
$700 per season here for managed snow clearing. Could get almost 10 years of service for that, but obviously no cool factor. I work in engineering with highest achievers in their field Yarbo and other gadgets I’ve got makes cool barbecue time story, but lately I’ve been embarrassed by it.
Bryan thank you for keeping the forum alive!
I try! I hope they get back to you soon. I’d mention the no verbal feedback. Might be something else going on with your core.
I also noticed anomalies with announcements after this update. I don’t use the dock and store Yarbo in the garage. I plug it in to the wall charger. Sometimes it announces ‘charging’ and sometimes it doesn’t. Started after this update.
Interesting. Guess that’s a new bug.
We’ve already initiated the battery replacement process for you. We kindly ask for your patience while the replacement is being prepared and shipped.
We’ll keep you updated as soon as there’s any progress. Thank you for your understanding.
OK, thank you, I needed it urgently. Also, is there a way to have Yarbo stop charging the battery once it reaches 80%?
There is not currently but I do believe there are numerous feature requests for this on the forum already.
At the moment, we don’t support a feature that allows charging to stop at a specific battery percentage.
I did stop the charge at 80%, when I have checked it next time it was automatically start charging it even though I have stopped it manually.
@me1 Hi there, if the unit is left on the docking station, it will automatically resume charging after a period of time, even if charging was stopped manually.
I need to be able to stop charging at 80%, we need this setting implemented as soon as possible, otherwise it is killing our batteries
Recommend you go give these 2 feature requests a heart and drop a comment.
