Separate the basic setup from the attachment setup and usage

When going through the Wiki, there is a ton of redundant information to sift through before finding what’s needed. It seems like every attachment has it’s own core unboxing, how to setup the datacenter and docking station, attaching the antennas, and installing the battery.

When I look in the leaf blower section for example, I care about the leaf blower attachment, not the DC and hooking up the battery - I would expect to look in the core setup or initial setup for that. It’s like there are 4 different Yarbo’s, instead of 1 Yarbo core and 4 different attachments. (and then I guess there is the issue of model year as well).

Please consider editing the documentation to be holistic. I imagined the wiki to be a giant guide to all things yarbo and organized as such.

Hardware install and setup:

  • Datacenter
  • Docking station
  • Core
  • Attachments:
    • lawnmower
    • snowblower
    • leaf blower
    • SAM
    • etc

Application setup and usage:

  • download, install and connect
  • Basic functions that apply to all attachments (like does the Lawn Mower map work for the Blower, and SAM?)
  • explanation of what setup applies separately to a specific attachment (how does the snow blower map work with the lawn mower map)
  • Attachment specific app setup and usage:
    • lawnmower
    • leaf blower
    • snow blower
    • SAM
    • etc

I have been saying the same thing to them for a while. Fully agree. It’s making good progress though. It’s still very much a work in progress.

Yeah it was confusing to me too when I first unboxed everything. Like, why am I being told to do this again.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback — and I want to start by apologizing if the current Wiki structure made it feel like there’s too much repetition or disorganization. You raised a valid point and I want to make sure I understand and address it clearly.

For the Leaf Blower section, I can confirm that all content currently listed is blower-specific, including things like:

The installation guide for the blower module,

The app functions like Reverse Blowing (Beta), which is unique to the blower.

The only exceptions are the Comprehensive User Manual and Product Brochure, which are indeed repeated across module sections. These are included in each section simply because they’re all-in-one documents that cover every Yarbo product and some users prefer to access them directly from where they’re browsing.

As for your suggestion on reorganizing the Wiki holistically — you’re absolutely right that from a first-time user’s perspective, organizing everything from unboxing → data center → dock → core → module would feel more natural. This logic was actually considered early in planning. However, we found that it makes it harder for returning users or experienced owners to quickly locate content by module, since the information ends up scattered across different beginner-focused categories.

That’s why we chose the current structure:

·General App Functions — covers anything app-related that applies to multiple modules

·Then dedicated sections for Core & SAM Snow Blower, Lawn Mower, Blower, etc., where we try to make sure content is specific and relevant to that module only.

That said, we’re always looking for ways to improve how content is surfaced — whether it’s through better internal linking, suggested content, or even a new “Getting Started” section that pulls together everything a new user would need in one place.

Please feel free to elaborate if I’ve misunderstood your point — we really appreciate the insight and want to keep making the Wiki more helpful for everyone.

But the sections aren’t specific to each module. Maybe it’s a semantics issue. When I hear module (blower for example), I think of the attachment that mounts onto the Core. So that would include how to attach it to the core/rover, how to use the blower related app functions, and any blower specific maintenance or troubleshooting. I wouldn’t expect to see how to lube the tracks, swap the tracks, replace the track side plates, or perform battery storage and maintenance (and yet those are all under the Blower section). Those are part of the core, and could/should be referred to from other attachments as prerequisites (like ensuring the summer tracks are on for leaf blowing - with a link to “Go here for more information”).

As a returning user, sifting through how to unbox the core, set up the DC, and install the battery every time I’m looking for how to do something module specific isn’t efficient. I imagine from a document editing perspective there is a large amount of work to keep all of that information in sync across all 4-7 different module guides.

It seems like the videos and PDF guides are all geared toward a new user who hasn’t set anything up yet. It’s like if I bought a laptop to browse the web and install Grammerly browser plugin to help me write. And the first step of installing the browser plug-in in the Grammerly user guide PDF or youtube video is unboxing my laptop and setting up the OS. That makes no sense.

Don’t take this the wrong way. I like the product. This is just feedback. In my opinion, the way Yarbo is creating documentation, causes more work on Yarbo to ensure the same piece of info stays consistent in so many places, and causes frustration for the users, because there is so much information to sift through to find what we are looking for.

I’m used to projects being laid out logically. A couple of good examples are Harvester and Home Assistant. Both step you through how to do an initial setup (with multiple variants) and then follow on sections for specific uses cases. I see tremendous similarity to Yarbo as a product platform.

Harvester has all docs in one tree:

While Home assistant has a whole Getting Started Installation section, and then a separate Docs area to cover common usage and integration setup topics

Spend some time browsing through those guides and hopefully that gives a sense of what I envision for Yarbo.

I forgot one of the key reasons to have more granular pages and less PDF and youtube videos - Search for self service support. As a user, being able to go to a knowledgebase and search for my issue and find a resolution is key. It cuts down on support desk activity and increases user satisfaction.

And also makes me wonder what the use case differences are between the Wiki and the support Knowledge Base https://support.yarbo.com/portal/en/kb/

Whoever heads up the Yarbo service desk should be all over this concept.

Yarbo is still feeling its way through the documentation and KB aspect. A frequent poster who writes TL;DR stuff plus some actual Smart People began tossing in some suggestions about the doc/KB a short while ago. The items on the site are good, but as always can be better (never ends!), and a Wiki would be the opportunity for contributions from others. So Yarbo did some homework on what would be best, and we’re trying out the Wiki.

I’m not sure what will happen to the existing information assets on the site, but I’d like to think they’d also be updated, maybe have them point to the Wiki so we have just one copy of any doc. Not sure of the plans.

Yarbo controls what documentation and which articles go where. I write stuff and put out some hacks and ideas to help people while some others are looking to do the same, and as long as the nice people who want to install and use their machines can find what they need easily and it’s nicely organized, it’s hitting everyone’s goal.

I’m working on a Map Drift article now and it’s so HOT outside I want to stay in and do it but it’s so HOT inside that I don’t want to do it. :exploding_head:

Hi Greg,

Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed and thoughtful feedback — it’s incredibly valuable as we continue to build and refine the Yarbo Wiki.

  1. Regarding the current lack of content in the Blower section — you’re absolutely right. Due to limited resources and the relatively recent launch of the Wiki, there are still some sections (like the Blower module) that are underdeveloped. At the moment, we are prioritizing the Lawn Mower content since mowing is the most active use case during this season. We sincerely appreciate your understanding as we gradually expand coverage across all modules.
  2. As for the inclusion of overlapping content (like treads, battery care, etc.) across different module sections — this is a deliberate choice. Since the Yarbo Core is used across all modules, we’ve included general maintenance content within each relevant module (Lawn Mower, Snow Blower, Blower, etc.) for easier access. For example, a user who primarily uses the Lawn Mower + Core combo might go directly to the Lawn Mower section rather than Core or Smart Assist. Our goal is to reduce the steps needed to find the right information, especially for users focused on one specific use case.
  3. Regarding the use of PDFs, videos, and sometimes fragmented formats — we completely agree this can feel disjointed. We’re still in the early stages of building out the Wiki and currently focusing on producing essential and frequently requested content first. Once we have a more complete article base, we plan to improve consistency, consolidate overlapping entries, and restructure content where necessary. Improving searchability is also a key goal — we’re working on enhancing tags, synonyms, and content structure to ensure users can locate what they need, even if they’re not using official terminology.
  4. On logical structure and content navigation — we’re still far from a final framework, and the platform is evolving based on community input. It’s a balancing act between producing missing content and refining existing organization. We truly appreciate your suggestions and will incorporate them as we continue to refine the user experience.
  5. Why did we move away from the old Support Center Knowledge Base?
The new Wiki features not only updated and rewritten content, but also a far more flexible structure. In the old system, for example, everything from the Data Center to Docking Station was lumped into the Snow Blower category — making it difficult to locate relevant information. The new Wiki allows us to clearly separate each component by module. In addition, this new platform offers significantly more control in terms of structure, customization, and long-term scalability.

We’ve also introduced a Contributor Program, inviting some of our most knowledgeable and active community members to help maintain and enrich the Wiki. With their help, we’re building a more complete and accurate resource — from both official sources and real user experience. The old knowledge base is still temporarily archived, but it will be fully phased out once the Wiki is complete.

Lastly, thank you again for your feedback. It’s precisely these kinds of suggestions that help us improve and better serve our users. We welcome all continued feedback and look forward to shaping the Yarbo Wiki together with the community.
