Tip: What to do when Yarbo sees your Docking Station’s doghouse as a vehicle and Pathway Obstacle Detection kicks in, and the rover fails to go charge
A change in App V3.15.3 / Firmware V3.9.10 means vehicles spotted on a Pathway will cause the rover to pause or return to the Docking Station.
If you have a doghouse on your Docking Station, Yarbo will see that as a vehicle as the rover returns to charge up after the completion of a Work Plan. This vehicle avoidance feature sure does work!
I spotted two ways to deal with this. Choose the one you like better.
There is an Obstacle Avoidance setting for the Pathway your rover takes to the Docking Station. You can turn that off. Note that this turns off Obstacle Avoidance for that entire Pathway, so if a real vehicle is there somewhere along the way, the rover won’t avoid it.
You can put a No-vision Zone where the rover will be driving up to the Docking Station, which is what I did. I went a little crazy and put it over the Doghouse as well “just in case.”
Unfortunately I had to delete one of those Pathways – the MOST ESSENTIAL ONE FOR WINTER that went to my snowblower hub Area. Could be trouble trying to re-create it. But Yarbo was always taking that Pathway only to go in the complete opposite direction later, so, once again, a Pathway created BEFORE the Area was overlapped is behaving INCONSISTENTLY. It shouldn’t have taken that Pathway at all, but I think I know why it did.
So that Pathway went away, as did another there, and one small one that was hidden under the others. There’s only one Pathway from the Docking Station now into the Area in front of it, and that will become a Hub for Pathways going to other Areas, festooned with Stubby Deadends.
So many overlaps I can’t create Pathways anymore. I want my mommy.
Oh, sorry, can’t show you the whole map. It’s against the Geneva Convention. But here’s a Free Sample:
