My mower gets stuck a lot. Sometimes it just needs me to manually re-adjust it with the controller and it can move along. If it is in visual range I can just use the controller, but I have 6 acres. It would be helpful to have the map available when controlling. Currently I have to look at its position on the map. Then go to the controller screen and move it slightly. Then exit controller to see where it is on the map. And back and forth like that.
Have you tried Smart Vision? Go into settings, smart vision, and then hit the controller icon to get camera view with a joystick control. Some screenshots of the controls on the link below.
What I have done if I am on cellular (Smart Vision won’t work on cellular) is open the app on another device and watch the map there while I control it with my phone.
Wish I had a dollar for every time I went through that…
I didn’t think of using two devices. That would make it easier. But the most convenient thing would be to add the map to the controller view. I have a couple areas where I mapped too close to the fence and Yarbo will sometimes get stuck in the fence. I usually switch between controller screen and map screen as @brian.blank says. Once I get Yarbo lined up with its planned course he’ll resume his work and not need to negotiate to get back on track. That negotiation is usually where he gets snagged in the fence.
Yeah the need for it to go back to where it was in trouble is frustrating at times.
Yeah I would like this feature as well.
One “work around” that I have done to get this somewhat working is to:
- Go into “my yard”
- Use the “locate” button to center the screen on the unit.
- Disable the locate button and then drag that map to put the unit in the top 1/3rd of the screen.
- Then use the controller from the map page.
This will give you a tiny map that you can view and move the unit 10/20 feet ( depending on your zoom ) at a time before having to exit the controller, reposition the map, and then going back to the controller. Its crude, but it does work for simple movements.
Though I would really love the ability to have a dedicated map / controller page where I could manipulate the map without leaving the controller.
Along with possibly being able to access the cameras ( when on wifi ). for even safer movement.
I have been doing this lately as well. The map is slightly darkened/ greyed out and you have to toggle the controller to minimize controls and maximize map.
A decent workaround.
Still hoping this can make it to development consideration Please upvote!
Doing the same since early days. The map is kind of pale or in a « shadow » but it is usable. Someday we may put a request in for them to fix this… But there are so many urgent things to fix…
