This may be just my ignorance of mapping, but I have a pathway in front of my house that I use the blower module on. The blower would only need to make 1 pass to clean off clipping etc. the problem is that I have mapped it as a separate area, but it is very inefficient due to the area’s small size, so Johnny 5 just moves back and forth in small movements, while turning the blower off and on repeatedly. I’ve also tried to set it up as a pathway, but I can’t add it to the plan list to have it completed with my driveway.
@ericmiller0774 I don’t have a blower. What mapped items does it allow you to create? A snowblower’s Sidewalk or a mower’s Deadend will do what you want.
Is there a way you could map it as a legitimate Pathway to get from Area to Area and have the blower turned on when taking it? That’s what I’ve done with a Pathway I’m using for the mower - I put it in a particular location on purpose to get a trickly little bit done next to the dog pen.
Would creating a larger blower Area and pushing the rover to be where you want using a No-go Zone (like a rectangle template No-go Zone) help?
Thanks for sharing your experience! Could you please share your blower map with me? I’d like to take a look and see if I can offer any suggestions to improve the efficiency. If not, I’ll be happy to pass your feedback along to our product team for further review.
I originally had the area circled in red setup as an area by itself. I’ve since deleted it and changed it to 2 pathways, but I can’t add the pathways to the worklist so that it can compete this area. I was trying to set up the blower map so that it would complete the driveway and then the front pathway.
Haven’t used the blower yet, but I assume that it doesn’t have a pathway setting to enable blower like the mower has one to enable the blades in the pathway?
Right now, I think they would have to add sidewalks or dead ends which are like super pathways. They can be open ended and would let you add them to the work plans. Hopefully Team Yarbo has a better interim solution for you. I’m not sure I see one if enabling the blower in the pathway isn’t a current valid setting.
If it is, you would just need to create a small area on the other side of the pathways for it to need a reason to go across that particular pathway and activate the blower.
Thanks for providing the detailed information. We will pass your case to our product team to see if there is any way to make it more efficient to deal with small areas. We will also pass your suggestion about adding pathways to plan list to our product team.
Yes, having the ability for the blower to make one pass like a pathway will be a great feature. I see value in this feature to blow leaves and debris into a work area. Example blow excess leaves off a patio or driveway into the work area where the rover will do what it does with the schedule.
Another great use would be for the neighbor that does not take care of his lawn and blows his grass clippings into my yard. I would love to have the rover just make one pass and blow it all back into his yard! ![]()
Can we Make this feature happen?
Agree completely.
I was shocked that there wasn’t a Pathway type feature for the blower. I ended up spending a ton of time trying to Jerry rig a solution that worked. Very non user friendly.
My use cases are simple things like blowing my sidewalk clean. Or blowing the driveway clean. Things like that. Nope. No simple straightforward way to do that now. I had to create narrow areas that trick Yarbo into blowing where I need it.
What would also be nice would be an attachment to put over the blower outlet and direct it forward and or out both sides. Maybe a manual slider adjustment that would let you set the airflow direction. I was pretty excited by the original concept blower that had the articulating nozzle. I wish that was an option on this model.
@bmurph213 Thanks for the detailed suggestion—I’ll also pass this along to our product team for consideration!
The articulating nozzle should be built out and be a retrofit kit.
I would love that.
