Allow 100% Undock Battery Level

Like many users with large mowing areas, I have a section that typically requires 3 full charge cycles to complete. However, since the mower only charges to 80% before undocking, it sometimes takes 4 cycles to finish depending of a few settings tweaks.

In some cases, it would be more efficient if the battery could charge to 100% before starting, which could reduce the number of charge cycles needed. Thoughts?

All for allowing 100%.

I had a case last year where the snowblower ran a bit under the 15% recharge level while out working, and within about 12 feet of the Docking Station hit the even lower level and stopped the auger! It couldn’t return because it couldn’t clear the snow. Sometimes you want all the juice in the lemon!

I agree also, let the scale go to 100%, I might want 92%. Let me choose.

Another vote for allowing 100%. I too have a large mowing area. 80% causes an additional mowing cycle

Especially good idea since the battery is allowed to sit at 100% for long periods of time, which actually is bad for lithium chemistry lifetimes. Go to any charge SOC the user decides and get back to work, so the battery won’t sit at >80% for very long.

I’m all for letting users choose but there are 2 issues here and if added there should be a disclaimer. It’s not always what it appears.

  1. It takes longer to go from 80%→ 100% than it does from %40→ %80. So you would actually be better to hit 80% and start mowing and just come back a little sooner.
  2. Charging to 100% degrades the batteries A LOT. If you only ever charged to %81 you would double the life of your battery. Specifically in NMC
