I’ve been scowering the FAQs, the forum, reddit, google etc., but haven’t been successful, So I’ll have to open the topic here. I hope, you can help me with my question.
I have a larger area, that I have to cut the gras on and I am considering buying a Yarbo for the job. Now the issue is, that the area is much larger than the limit of 6.2 acres (roughly twice as large). Now I don’t need a short cut gras (or a beautiful lawn) and in the area here gras is also not growing very quickly, so cutting it every 2 weeks would be completely fine.
But the 6.2 acres limit keeps worrying me a bit. Is this a technical limitation embedded into the software or is it theoretically possible to push it to cut larger areas? e.g. creating multiple areas and alternating weekly between them?
I hope you can help me with this (or fire a RTFM into my direction would also be fine but I would be happy about a hint to the right manual, as I haven’t been able to find an answer to that anywhere)
Thanks a lot in advance!
If you can get by with cutting that area every two weeks and you aren’t removing inches at a time, then you should be able to do once a week just fine. The limit is not software or technical. They say that it’s 6.2 acres 2 times a week. If you cut once a week, you can effectively double that. But, know that it’s designed to micro mulch. So, you may have to cut several times to get it looking completely manicured if you have some downtime due to rain or something. It can remove inches, but usually takes 2-3 passes in 45-90 degree angle rotations to get it all cut cleanly. Also note that an area of that size (even 6 acres) will take days to complete as the mower is slower and does a lot of maneuvering which adds time. Spiral cut can help cut down on the mowing times, but currently it only goes in one direction with no altering of the pattern or directions.
The newly announced M1 Pro, might be a better fit for your property if you are going to be removing inches at a time.
Brilliant, thank you so much for that information. That sounds very promising I’ll give it a shot. The whole area, that needs to be cut, doesn’t need to look beautiful. It is part of an orchard and I just need to keep the gras short enough to give mice an existential crises on the search for a hiding place That’ll keep them out of there.
Yeah, I already got pretty excited, when I read the announcement for the M1 Pro. I’ll try to get a hold on one of the first wave.
