Is 6 acres the max size I can make an “area” or the max cumulative size of the whole map?
There is no software limit on the map size. You could map well more than 6 acres. Some people have it mowing up to 12 acres if you mow once a week. But it will have to mow 24/7.
Got it. Thank you, Bryan!
Just out of curiosity, and not because I could even consider it, but what if you had two (or more) units on a large property? I’m assuming they could use the same DC, but would they otherwise be independent, like each having their own map of areas to take care of? Or would/could they share a map? Could they be both sent to the same area to mow and “know” that the other is there so they coordinate mowing? I know that’s getting a bit advanced, but it is certainly a use case for a many acre property being kept up.
You can have many and they all operate independently. They won’t share a map, but you can copy the map from one to the others. It is not advisable with the current Y series DC to share one with 2 units. They should have their own. The DC 2.0 will let it support multiple simultaneously. Not sure when that will be available for Y series users to purchase. Fleet mode is something they’ve talked about, but it’s still a concept AFAIK.
As Bryan mentioned, the units currently operate independently and do not share maps.
At the moment, we also do not support coordinated fleet work or multi-unit collaboration within the same area. However, we do understand that this is an important use case for many users with larger properties, and we appreciate you sharing the feedback and ideas.
Interesting, thanks for that. Like I said, it’s not something I would necessarily need (or be able to afford a second Yarbo), but I was curious about how that would work. It’s entirely realistic that people have large properties or businesses that would need to have multiple units going to be able to keep up with things (and not have to run 24/7).
