On the good side, the horrible sound it was making goes away when you detach it like this
Oh wow! That really doesn’t look good
Is it the teeth or the motor mount?
Plow mode for the win, lol
In this picture it looks like the belt is rubbing against the motor mount but I guess it’s hard to say what came first.
Bottom line is there is a systematic problem. I will be watching this closely.
That being said I LOVE THE PRODUCT and I wish them all the best!
It looks like you caught it in the early phase of the belt shredding. By the time I first saw what happened to mine, there was only about 1/4 inch of the belt width left and the rest was shredded and scattered everywhere.
Yep, but there’s more going on with this one. That’s a S1 / belt from Feb ‘24. The pulleys didn’t damage the belt… the belt cut teeth into the pulleys, lol.
About 4 or 5 minutes prior to the belt slip, the auger started making an occasional shaving noise, as if it was scraping the housing. Sometimes once every several rotations, then sometimes every rotation for 4 or 5 times in a row - but only when unloaded with no snow. There’d be no shaving noise whatsoever if it was eating snow. Anyway, after a few minutes, I heard the belt slip so I killed the job and turned it into a bulldozer.
I didn’t observe mine as it was failing. Only after I noticed it had converted itself to plow mode.
I think we should all be spot checking our belts periodically. Hopefully this really is an isolated issue with a batch of S1 units, but better safe than sorry.
The problem for me is after a couple of snow falls I have nowhere to push it to.
That’s probably where I’m in luck.
The driveway ends up with a yarbo-plow-bank along each edge. Once the core starts trying to back into them during turns, I just run the gasser up one edge and back on the other. At least for me, it’s a quick six minute job from portal to portal.
The caveat is you want to clear those banks before the core starts getting stuck in them. I think someone mentioned setting the safety buffer at 0 for initial plow runs, and then increasing it on subsequent jobs as the banks pileup and the core starts to back into them. I never got to try that, as we were down to 3 to 5 inches per day when I started plowing. But I am curious if that might manage how often you have to clear those two yarbo-plow-banks.
Hello, I have a new Yarbo S2 and recently faced the same problem with a new Snow blower with the belt being shredded.
Hand, this is a systemic problem not an isolated case.
Hello.
Sorry to hear about the broken belt. It seems to be isolated to a batch of belts and not an ongoing issue (fingers crossed).
If you haven’t already, open a ticket and include pictures. They will send you a replacement.
Feel free to keep us posted.
