I have a question about the smart sorting feature on mowing schedule. It seams it is not that smart afterall. I just have noticed that for example for drawn dead ends it just randomly chooses one and drives across the area. Mowing one dead end from one side of the area and then navigating to opposite end of the area do mow the next one. And repeat. I have about 15 different dead ends in one mowing area so it’s first time consuming and second it makes unnecessary tracks. Half of the dead ends are in one area and another half on the opposite end of the mowing area. So the rover just drives pointlessly 5+ times long distances to mow one dead end in one area and heading to the the next one far away. Instead mowing then all in one small area and heading to to the same in other area. Also I have added the dead ends to the mowing schedule in the order I mapped them. So if rover would just choose from the schedule the mowing pleases by the list they where created on it all should be fine and no excessive pointless travel would not be needed. But somehow it is “smarter” then that and constantly likes to make joyrides to the opposite ends.
Rover clearly needs some reeducation on this matter
I was unaware that Deadends aren’t mowed in “closest to further away” order with Smart Sorting. Interesting. I tend to sort my mowing on my own, and, yep, mow Deadends in a particular order.
As kind of an aside, if this impacts you or is of interest, have a look at my Tip on the Yarbo Users and Community FB Group from June 4:
Tip 1: Make some of the starts of your parallel, close, or bunched Deadends a little kinder to your lawn
If you have bunched Deadends and you’re noticing some stress on the grass at the Starts of those Deadends, it might help. But you’ll need to override Smart Sorting with Human Sorting.
Any chance we could get that tip copied over here for the FB challenged? I left FB a long time ago and I ain’t going back.
(I’m with ya. I left FB because WE are their product AND because of their insane censorship. I am only there out of necessity because some companies use it exclusively for new information and even support. Yarbo’s FB Groups are invaluable to me. But on a day to day basis sharing pictures of my freakin’ lunch? Yeah, nah.)
I’m going to ask Yarbo in a DM if there can be a section out here on the Forum for the stuff I post that is informative – Tips/hints/FAQs. Something kept clean and searchable. We had a discussion out here about contributing to the Support KB Articles, but this may be an easier way to get input from and for the Yarbo user community.
I literally have written a book by now, if only in the half a year I’ve been using the machine. And there are other contributors who have fewer words but way more smart things to say.
Probably best use case for a wiki.
Or something - yeah, we had the general discussion about KB Articles a few weeks ago, and Yarbo folks went off to ponder. Anyway, I just sent Yarbo a DM.
I grabbed my last 2 “Tips” posts from FB and put them verbatim in Yarbo Product Talk, now waiting there for approval. Just for you, @ken.w.gregory.
Maybe Yarbo will have a better place for them.
Other than the circular file, Bryan. Wow. Meanie!
@Ken New phone, who dis? Ah never mind, report spam and delete!
@bryan.wheeler - Oh, right, I sold one arm and three of my webbed toes and FINALLY got a new phone…and plopped a kidney and half a liver on the counter to get the GF one as well. Ahhh, it’s so nice not getting those BT pairing requests anymore from the Yarbo – and as a bonus that kidney I gave as payment had the stone in it – joke’s on them!
I’ve yet to try to pair with Yarbo’s BT speaker. Yep, nope, not going to happen, I’m too chicken that those BT pairing messages will come back…ugh…I do like the BT speaker, though. The GF’s old phone may become a test subject…LOL!
Just do it. All the cool kids are doing it!
Yeah, I tried that once. It was neat. Later that day I got tagged into an impromptu Teams meeting, and it was pretty funny watching the core broadcast it to the planet while it mowed, lol.
“Why is the meeting sound coming from outsid… ohhhh”
You just upped the work from home game. Let me listen to this meeting from my patio through my yard robot while I sip chardonnay (or Pabst if you’re @Ken) and watch it mow my yard.
Pabst is a step up for me.
You guys are funny.
If we could bind the cameras, Follow-Me mode would move to a whole-new level, lol.
Finally, a device that can follow the office-spaz who cannot sit still during a meeting!
