How to Use the Smart Sorting Feature with Your Yarbo?

What is Smart Sorting?

The Smart Sorting feature allows your Yarbo to automatically start cleaning from the closest area and work its way to the farthest one.

Where can I turn on/off the Smart Sorting toggle?

  1. Click the yellow “Start” button on the main interface or on the My Yard page.

  2. Go to the Plan List, find the plan you’d like to adjust, and tap the settings icon.

  1. Select Edit Plan.

  1. You will then see the Smart Sorting toggle.

FAQ :

  1. With Smart Sorting disabled, in what order will Yarbo work in different areas? Yarbo will follow the default order of your area list. If you want to customize the work sequence, you can drag and reorder the areas in the list to meet your preferences.

I have yet to see this work efficiently. I have multiple dead ends in my area and I would expect smart sorting to get them mowed in in an order that require minimal travel across the area. However, this isn’t happening. The mower goes across the area to mow a deadend and then goes back to the other end to mow the other deadend. This should not happen.

Thank you for your feedback!

The smart sorting feature is currently designed to determine the mowing sequence between different areas. When it comes to deadends, we recognize that the route planning within an area can still be improved, and we do plan to optimize this in future updates.

We truly appreciate you bringing this to our attention—it helps us continue to improve the Yarbo experience.

how do i drag the areas, i tried, nothing seems to happen?

Did you tap and hold on the three bars and then drag?

It’s fiddly, @michaelbabbitt7. I haven’t figured out the magic that lets you drag and drop when you want to. You just have to keep trying to drag on the item in the list you want to move. Sometimes I’ll tap+hold the item and try to move it horizontally or diagonally, and it’ll unhook and let me move it where I want to on the list.

Maybe deselect them first or vice versa?

I don’t think it matters. The GUI is sticky, at least on my phone, and it sounds like @michaelbabbitt7’s phone as well.

If your phone is gooey and sticky, you should clean it! :joy:

You hold then drag precisely on those little horizontal bars on the right edge.
I use my pinky finger and get pretty consistent results.

What is current status of Smart Sort with DEs? I have a much better name for this pretend feature! Nearly every claimed feature I attempt to use DOESN’T WORK AY ALL, OR ISN’T FINISHED. Yarbo travels back and forth to the furthest possible DE. These posts are from May and NOTHING has been done to correct this. I’m obviously very frustrated at this point. There are dozens of these types of issues that are misrepresented in official user guides and in marketing materials.

While I owned a Yarbo, this was one of the frustrations I had with it. My map had 20+ deadends (inside corners mostly and 2 areas with parallel deadends) and recreating a deadend would auto delete the associated work plan (why??). This required recreating the workplan and manually sorting all deadends etc.
I logged several bugs and enhancement requests during my ownership…not one made into any of the firmware/app releases and my dismal experience that started on Day 1 continued until the last day. I am glad I moved on.

I’m really sorry to hear that you haven’t had a satisfying experience with Yarbo so far.

Regarding the Smart Sorting for Deadends, at the moment, we do not have a specific feature in place to optimize the mowing order of deadends. As a workaround, you can manually adjust the execution order of the deadends to minimize unnecessary travel.

As for the issue where recreating a deadend causes the associated work plan to be deleted, this has already been added to our improvement list.

We’re continuously working to enhance both the product and user experience, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we move forward.

Yep. I’m aware. I have to resort to a workaround and manually sort 50+ DEs as a workaround to force Yarbo to mow uphill only on slopes within it’s advertised incline range. Or, watch the circus handstand show and hope it doesn’t flip over.
