Have you tried Yarbo’s towing feature for your spring cleanup?

Spring is the perfect time to get your lawn back in shape—and Yarbo’s towing capability can make a big difference! Whether you’re clearing debris or prepping for new growth, here are some handy tools you can tow with Yarbo to streamline your yard work:

  1. Leaf Sweeper – Effortlessly gather fallen leaves, grass clippings, and other loose debris from your lawn. It’s a quick way to tidy up large areas without raking by hand.
  2. Dethatcher: Clear out built-up thatch to allow air, water, and nutrients to reach the soil. This can help your grass grow stronger and more evenly.
  3. Aerator: Use a tow-behind aerator to punch small holes in the soil, which improves water absorption and root development. It’s a great way to rejuvenate compacted lawns.
  4. Dump Cart/Wagon: Move heavy or bulky materials like soil, mulch, firewood, tools, fertilizer, or garden waste around your yard with ease. A must-have for larger cleanup or landscaping jobs.
  5. Broadcast Spreader: Distribute grass seed or fertilizer evenly across your lawn or driveway. Towing makes the job faster and ensures more consistent coverage.
  6. Lawn Roller: Smooth out uneven spots in your lawn and press down new sod or seed for better soil contact and germination. Great for getting that well-manicured look.

Tip: When towing loads exceeding 100 lbs, we recommend using a ball hitch for greater flexibility and to protect the tow hitch we provided.

With Yarbo’s towing function, you can transform routine lawn care into a streamlined, satisfying process—all while saving time and energy.

Are there towing modes available yet (even go to a location and stop), that force wide turns only? Doing everything with the controller is not necessarily ideal, and follow me isn’t quite ready for prime time yet.

I found that when towing and starting a work plan (or return to charge) with the intent to manually stop the unit before entering the work area (or to the charge) ended up in the unit jack-knifing the trailer when trying to turn onto pathways.

An official Tow Mode is due this month (April) in what could be a significant update.

A few weeks ago Yarbo sent out a survey asking customers to prioritize yard tools they use (lawn sweeper, etc). I added a post to the Official Yarbo Community on FB where folks could express more detail if they wanted to.

My thinking is same as yours - we have different tools, different turning radius, different speed, different patterns - a Tow Mode would need to take that into consideration. So we’ll see what the Developers are Yarbo have come up with soon!

Oh, yes, “Go To Waypoint” is also coming. I have a hack that lets you “Summon” or “Send” Yarbo somewhere, but an official feature would work better, I’m sure. And, yep, it’s so you can attach/detach a piece of equipment.

What’s the workaround for summon/send? even if temporary?

It’s ugly. Turn away now!

Basically you start a Work Plan where the first Area is where you want to Send or Summon your rover. You End the Work Plan when it arrives. It’s that ugly.

The first Work Plan I have in my list is called “scratch,” and it’s just a throwaway that I can always update quickly and use for little tasks. I put the Area I want the rover at into that Work Plan and start the Work Plan. When the rover arrives, I click the App to end the Work Plan. Simple as.

As long as you have small Areas created wherever you want your rover to be and a path for Yarbo to get there, you can Send or Summon.

Kinda dumb, but actually kinda handy.

Thank you for your feedback! We’re sorry that the tow mode is not available yet. We do plan to release this feature in the future update, which is expected to come by the end of April or May, depending on the progress of testing. We’ve also taken jack-knifing into consideration and will be including settings to help prevent such issues. Stay tuned for future updates, and we appreciate your patience!

yeah, that is what I was doing… but the ‘align to pathways’ always ended up in a jack-knife situation.

Yarbo was great in the fall for hauling leaves with a small tow behind trailer I originally bought for my atv. I just used the controller to bring it back to where I dump leaves, I hadn’t gotten creative enough to think about mapping it. I lost the use of the controller with the updates to wifi in my 2023 core, which made it even more difficult. Just finally signed up for the upgrade, hoping I get some features back and find the mapping easier with the updates I haven’t experienced yet.

I also haven’t had the chance to try the leave blower, you can see from the photo, Yarbo will get a workout when I try it this year. Interested to see how I can creatively manage the functionality, I have a lot of leaves!

I have used it with a two wheeled garden cart. You suggest a ball mount for heavy loads. Do you have any suggestions on which ball mounts can be used with the Yarbo tow hitch? I’m not even sure what to google precisely.

@thejeremy - I bought Ebay number 126667003520 to tow my stuff - it’s a 2" hitch ball with a 3/4" shank. Comes with the nut and lock washer, all you need. If the device you’re towing has a different hitch ball size, look for that. The 3/4 inch shank is what bolts into Yarbo’s hitch, so whatever you buy will need that size shank bolt.
