HomeAssistant + Yarbo?

My estimate using the power monitor data from my tapo smart plug isn’t too bad:

That’s actually really good!

It’s not so much that that it’s unencrypted. By default Mosquito Broker in HA is clear text by default. There’s nothing important in the data. The issue would be that it’s unauthenticated.

We really need a proper and secure API. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

There’s positioning data in it. IDK if the camera feeds would be available or anything like that. The git hub even mentions how he redacts the location for the logging:crossed_fingers:… but yeah unauthenticated commands are the main issues, it can “take control” just like the controller…I think that also messes with the app a bit though, it’s occasionally been a little laggier than usual since I installed the add on.

I got it to work. Thanks

I’m not overly concerned. It’s just bad practice. If someone rouge in on my internal network, I’ve got other things to worry about

We need a “standby mode” would be easy to trigger with home assistant automations:

Standby would allow the battery to lower to 60-80% SOC, disable the battery heater or greatly lower the min temp, and then have a scheduled maintenance of once per week or two to warm the battery and charge to 100% to balance the pack and then allow the battery SOC to go back to 60-80%…

I’m tempted to try this “manually” by turning off the smart plug that’s powering the charging pad and only turning it back on if the SOC gets below ~40% or something, but then the heaters will cause extra battery cycling…maybe in spring I could monitor the outdoor temps and disable it without the heaters having to run:thinking:…sounds like Yarbo should do this internally then I don’t have to put in all that effort :joy:

They need to add a “Max charge” option to limit the charge to a user defined maximum like 80%. Then have a toggle for “Optimized battery charging” that it charges to full when there is a schedule about to start or a perceived task (as in I always manually mow on Wednesday). This is what Apple and other smart phones do.

Yeah, I do have a hard time believing this is what that feature is doing.

Yarbo is plugged in with the charging brick in my garage. I’ve been sick so I haven’t been playing around with. Maybe the docking station is different but my guess is not as the app always says the same thing.

I don’t think that 100% is accurate. I believe it fluctuates between 90-98%.

Hopefully with Home Assistant, now we can have visibility into the current battery management strategy. I would love to have that clarity.

I hope it’s wrong. I hope it’s related to this integration….however….it may be reading the actual current battery charge state in which case the battery has been pinned at 100%.

I would hope it’s reading the “fake 100%” that they always show us in the app. Otherwise, that isn’t good for the health of the battery.

That is not what I saw after getting this configured. I wish it was but it wasn’t.

Reminds me of this beauty

I see fluctuations between 96-100%. Haven’t seen anything below that so far.

Really? Do you have the graph to upload showing days/week of data so we can see what you see?

I was off a couple. 94% is the low.
