Home Assistant Integration Timeline

Really looking to have Yarbo release its API so it can be integrated with Home Assistant. There are a lot of great added functionality that Home Assistant user’s could benefit from and release some of the programming burden from the Yarbo Dev team.

This would fast track things like notifications to a device when Yarbo is stuck or done, or changing the cut schedule based on soil moisture levels or other metrics. I’d also like patrol mode to be automated based on movement my Reolink cameras detect in the front yard. Additionally, id have a gate automated to open when the Lawnmower is set to travel to my front yard so I dont have to physically open and close the gates.

No other robotic yard robots integrate well with home assistant and a well done integration would be a standout feature among the Smarthome market. These guys already spend a ton of money on technology to automate their house and would really make the Yarbo system a valuable new addition to their house.

It’s on the roadmap. Not sure if it will be soon though. Here is a status board of some of the previous requests. API access is the one that you want to look at and make sure and heart it too.

Hi, I’m a new Yarbo user and I have to ask why this Home Assistant integration isn’t ready yet?

I understand that there are many other features that are more important to get ready or better, but this is also important for getting information and commanding Yarbo.

You will get a better product compared to competitors when you add the ability to control devices with home automation systems.

Best Regards,

Kimmo

Please @Yarbo-Forum consider this new client comment! You know we all have been asking for it. Maybe this new request will make you consider it?

Hi Kimmo—welcome to the Yarbo family! We hear your strong interest in Home Assistant integration. Right now we’re focusing our resources on a few higher-priority issues, so this integration is lower on the near-term roadmap. We truly appreciate you raising it and we’ll add your request to our internal list so the product team sees the demand. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

I’ve made posts about this before and seen many. Home assistant integration will be a major deciding factor when I get a new mower in the future. Would love to support Yarbo but responses like that dont make me hopeful.

I’ve posted this before and will continue to do so

Thread and Matter support would be ideal in my mind as that would support most all of the main smart platforms and Yarbo wouldn’t need to alienate groups of customers by choosing one or two.

I would also love to see yarbo integrated in to the different smart home platforms. For me personally, I use Google home. It would be nice to tell “bumble bee” to go mow the front yard.

Here’s to hoping!!!

This is why I keep mentioning Matter and Thread support because Google Home is compatible with it. Home Assistant, Apple Home, Alexa, Samsung Smartthings, Homey Pro, Aqara, and maybe others. By supporting a standard that is compatible across nearly all the vendors, no one is left out just because they picked Apple or Google vs another.

Support them all by supporting the standards, not a particular vendor.

I still have an old X10 wall socket controlling a table lamp I setup for posterity. It’s about 30 years old and still kickin.

My Dad had a few x10 lamp outlets that worked, every..single..time. We migrated him to some modern smart home tech so he had something to troubleshoot every once in a while. What else would he do being retried.

My first home automation system was an add-on X10 module for my home security system in 2004. Some of the first touch screen keypads with programmable buttons to control X10 light switches. I loved it.

I did my best to setup voice control on my X10 system using Dragon Dictate and some old stage mics I had laying around. It worked fairly well considering the tech circa 1995. My ex made me take it down when my daughter was born in '98 because when she cried, my daughter not my ex, lights would start randomly turning on and off and the curtains would start dancing. It was fun while it lasted.

Hell I would be happy with any API access even if over basic Wi-Fi or Ethernet

Wow. X10. That really stirs up a ton of memories for me!

Going to Radio Shack to buy modules…

Trying to mitigate line noise interference from florescent lights…

Those were the days!

Was my first smart home setup and worked well. Except when you had to bridge across phases to get signal to multiple legs.

OMG I remember that!! Wow. Really takes me back.

I even had X10 controlling my sprinklers and draperies way back then if you can believe it.

Crap. That reminds me, I left the phase bridge in my house when I sold it.
