I just want to get n here and post something positive. I am thankful for this forum. As the world goes places like this serve mostly as a spot for folks to seek help and post frustrations. I am a tech person and early adopter, often the person responsible for pushing change. I am of course sympathetic to those responsible for support (I do that too). Unfortunately turning to such spots for feedback is really a bad place, so I want to say something positive just to let others know this (my experience) is likely the norm.
Through no part of Yarbo I encountered an unfortunate situation. A mouse destroyed things in my core. They immediately responded, made the choice to send me a core up front. (I missed my pickup and need to reschedule). Worried from things on this forum I was surprised to see a well refurbished unit. Had some concerns and folks like @bryan.wheeler reassured it would be ok despite the alarms in the unit. Indeed things went well and my new replacement is fully in sync and rocking my mow. So I just wanted to say kudos to support and those folks in the background.
I went from a Mammotion Luba that could hardly keep up to a beast that takes great care of my 2 acres, used follow me today to clean up my yard. It was a small learning curve, but am super happy.
I will say support and improvements I have seen definitely will keep me in the ecosystem. Looking to get the snow blower after this last Ohio winter.
Thank you for the work and thought into this great piece of equipment. I know that goals and aspirations are often not easy to achieve. You guys keep at it despite some set backs. So you do have a very happy customer.
Keep working toward that api also I hope the the catcher will come to the bigger unit.
there is an opensource item for homeassistant to control and work with Yarbo. PLEASE don’t kill it. In fact you should reach out to him and work in coordination. The community would appreciate it. You are in a highly tech community, things like that go a long way
Glad to hear you are back up and running and everything is going well. The forum and the wiki are priceless resources to the Yarbo community. I am glad they implemented them and people have the resources they need to find solutions to any problems or challenges they come across.
Bryan I am thankful for your assurance. I am thankful as well that despite knowing places like this will generate negative feedback it will be a large support network. There is good info on here. With new tech it takes a community to overcome and achieve more. Yarbo really took the high road, and disregarded the possible negative press for the greater good. I am happy to be back to just watching my yard being mowed I travel often and this thing is heaven sent. Wish I had the snow blower, was in New Zealand when a freak snow storm hit…wife not happy. This would have made a big difference.
The snow blower is awesome. We’ve had a ton of snow this year. Normally we hardly ever get any. But, when we do, we get slammed. While it isn’t perfect, it’s cleared my driveway over half a dozen times successfully this year. Very happy with it. If you get one, remove the safety guard (or at least the bottom two bars), the flume diverter, and ceramic coat the box, auger, impeller, and chute. Makes a world of difference. Some silicone spray also really helps with wet sticky snow and slush. The challenge is figuring out what the snow and temperature situation is and adjusting your settings accordingly. Send it early and often. I think if they tweak the software some more and add smart turns and make zero turns optional, they will really have a solid product. A Yarbo sanctioned impeller kit or rubber insert to close the gap between the impeller and the chute wall would immensely help with wet snow. I know users who’ve added third party ones themselves are really happy so far with that mod. I’m not going to void my warranty for it. I feel like drilling into the impeller would weaken its structure. But, if Yarbo made a rubber (or something else) insert that fit over the current impeller, it would be an easy install, easy to swap as it wears, and really help reduce clogging. Bonus points if it’s a hydrophobic material.
Just temper your snow blower expectations if you get a heavy snow event or wet stuff. It is workable but requires a lot more tinkering/experimentation than the mower. I like it so far and the hardware has a lot of potential…it’s the software that’s a little infuriating…that being said they are making steady improvements and they listen to customer suggestions so they’ll get it figured out. Also have had good customer service experiences
