Manual path?

I know I can use dead ends, but it seems a waste on very long runs to go forward then in reverse the whole path. Maybe I am missing something. I would like to just manually create a path to mow in one direction with a start and end path. I have some long narrow ditch lines. Right now I have it with a series of dead ends. Would really just like to draw them like the template no go zones, only with lines. My ability to drive straight sucks.

Been asked many times before for auto dead ends and one way paths that you can add to plans like a sidewalk. I suggest submitting it as a feature request or finding an existing one and voting on it.

Thanks for the confirmation, I actually assumed I was missing how to do this. With dead ends implemented it just seemed like it would have been there and I was just missing something. Will vote, I did see something similar.

I’m not sure it’s “your ability to drive straight”. Yarbo seems to wonder from time to time.

Probably should stop giving it so many beers… :joy:

Agreed, but my course correction equally sucks. Maybe a few more beers will counter?

My fine motor skills are not very fine. With or without beer.

Hmmmm … a tow behind beer cooler sounds good to me. Maybe a 65 quart cooler?

Hi there, thanks for sharing your use case—this is very helpful.

We’ve received similar feature requests before. At the moment, this isn’t a high-priority item on our roadmap, but I’ll continue monitoring community interest and feedback around this. If we see growing demand, we’ll make sure to bring it back to the team for further consideration.

Also using dead ends and why it is not workable. Yarbo’s insatiable need to apparently start the dead end in the EXACTLY right position yet be inches off in the path. As I sit and correct Yarbo because it gently tapped my block wall, I adjust slightly thinking it will continue. Nope it, does a 20 point turn, goes back to start, another 20 point turn and a bunch of jockeying so that 10 minutes later it can again try to mow a 15 ft. Strip. Collision. (I have attempted to fix, but it seems I must have a ft buffer and just ignore the missed grass to avoid). After 3 attempts and 45 minutes later success. Note that without a well thought out planning and lots of trial and error you will have many bald spots as the mower seemingly having to get a precise start. Weirdly it will do a 180 go 2 inches forward, then another 180, a bunch of back and forth, then start the next dead end. It literally could have just backed up 2 inches, and then did its back and forth, SMH. Again I know how to correct, but it is painful for such a small area to completely redo, retest…it also takes a lot of thinking and understanding why.

Also anyone know why some dead ends it mows in reverse first then forward? Funny enough I actually prefer this as it results in a better cut, it pre mows in reverse, but forward mow yields best results. Seems to come out great when it does this. Forward first for whatever reason still ends up with missed grass on the reverse mow.

It’s painful to watch. I agree.

Reverse mowing happens when the rear of the core is closest to the entrance of the dead end when the dead end executes. It was intentional to save on wear and tear on the grass but makes absolutely no sense to me because you have the full length of the core that won’t be mowed at the end of the dead end. I believe they are working on fixing this.

Good point on the missed area. Fortunately where this happens is not a big deal as I actually go into my driveway more than needed and actually hits all even in reverse. I can certainly see where this would be problematic in a “normal” circumstance. I fully believe a “path mow” would help alleviate instead of chained dead ends. Again thanks Bryan, your experience, trial and error and willing to share is a huge contribution to this community. Kudos to you!

I haven’t mowed yet but I’m going to. I used S1 this winter and Sidewalks on S1 are Deadends on M1/MP to my limited understanding. I assume they are the same programming (with slight differences.) I suggest after watching S1 that you don’t deploy them without hovering over the emergency shut off.
