Sidewalks by the garage door and to the front door.
After the main driveway is cleared. Suggestions on the missed snow? Is it just a symptom of the type of snowfall? Should I increase overlap? Or is that just normal? (clean twice? ) When Yarbo made it to the end of a line it was pushing snow ahead of it. Sliding on the concrete ahead of the blower.
The turnaround (area to the West) was also parallel.
Apron (area to the South) was ran as slope. I wonāt do that again. Probably switching it to parallel as well. May do the apron and the main driveway as one area.
Congrats on the first snowblower run! Looks good to me!
Ok. So for the grass portion, I have my auger settings a bit higher than yours, but I donāt think youāre ātoo lowā. Obviously the goal is to prevent/minimize lawn damage. I think having a small amount of uncleared snow on the grass might protect it a bit from the snow tracks and spikes.
For the missed snow, Iād suggest using the Work Twice setting for your main driveway area. You can set the second pass to move a lot faster and with slower auger speed to save on battery.
Aside from that⦠Congrats!
Ps: I chickened out and disabled my walkway/sidewalk to the front door because of the new bug where Yarbo decides to enter or leave a work area by crossing through other areas instead of following the pathway. It did that the last time I tested it, and would have destroyed my Christmas decorations if I hadnāt stopped it.
New pathway from docking station and not relying on a work area under it. If that makes sense. Basically, Iām extending my mud pit farther out into the lawn.
What height do you have your auger set to on the grass? My auger was at 1.02. Because my fine motor skills are very fine. (Couldnāt get it set to 1 inch. )
as for
new bug where Yarbo decides to enter or leave a work area by crossing through other areas instead of following the pathway.
My sidewalk to the front door doesnāt have a work area under it other than the main driveway.
As for battery usage, Work Plan history shows 42.0% consumption. likely enough for a second run.
I did pause the plan and do some manual driving around the mailbox and apron. I didnāt like the slope route for the apron. Was taking FOREVER to complete. And it left a snow bank between the main driveway and the apron. Iāll have to work that out somehow.
I may try the 2nd pass I should have enough battery.
Keep at least the default overlap and do the work twice for the cleanup work. You can bump down the auger speed to quiet unless itās wet snow.
For the lawn, Iād say go higher. 2 inches. Youāre going to hit resistance if you arenāt cutting your lawn to the same height, so higher you can go, the better IMHO. Also helps get a good snow pack build up to protect the lawn and stop mud bogging.
Yea, Iām thinking about removing my spikes. They ARE going to tear up my grass, especially next to the dock. Hopefully I wonāt end up needing the spikes for the driveway
If we get some warm weather soon, Iām gonna put some temporary paver stones or something in front of the dock. The winter tracks are digging a circle in front of the dock!
Yeah I had to put pavers in front of mine last year from the zero turns of the snow blower. Really wish it would smart turn out in the open area and back on for all modules.
Had that on the first job over the weekend before the ground was frozen. I think itās related to a slightly damp snow with a thin wet layer on the bottom.
Hi Ken, congratulations on completing your first snow-blower run!
For the grass area, if youāre worried about potential damage to the lawn, you may want to raise the auger a bit higher ā that usually helps avoid scraping or tearing.
As for the missed snow, as others have mentioned, you can either increase the overlap or simply run a second pass. Both approaches are quite common depending on the type of snowfall and conditions.
Really appreciate you sharing your setup and starting this discussion ā itās definitely helpful for many others who may run into similar situations.
