I know you are working on a program to open APIs and interfaces for third-party and DIY development. Suggestion: start with the “OG” 2023 model… this is low-risk for you since you’ve changed a lot of aspects of the hardware since that version, but it’s very appealing to tinker-vators (like me) because the cost to buy a 2023 unit is low as a result of them being incompatible with newer modules. You would likely find that it stimulates some demand for the old units, and some customers will happily sell the old one to upgrade to your new versions.
while there may be some low level limitations that I doubt they have the resources to deal with, the fundamental software is basically the same as the 24. Generally, if the 24 gets it, the 23 does too.
Yes, that makes it a good trial platform. The key difference is that the front accessory connection uses USB in the OG and changed to Ethernet in 2024… and there’s no rear accessory port. Under the hood, the OG has multiple COTS electronic modules that plug together in a stack with one custom PCB for the IO. They must have consolidated more of those boards into a custom board because the 2024 electronics package is flat.
There is a lot of smart going on here.
Thanks for the thoughtful suggestion—we really appreciate it.
