Bricked Yarbo Y1, Firmware failed hardware, only 2 years old

I’m scratching my head on this 2023 Yarbo body Y1.

The Yarbo will not connect on the App. It says to check the Wifi connection. I can connect to it using the Yarbo Tool on PC.

I gave access to Yarbo support remotely. They sent me this email as a result:

We regret to inform you that the firmware on this machine has completely crashed, and due to an underlying hardware issue, a remote fix could not be successfully completed.

If the machine is still under warranty, we can provide an upgrade from the 23 to the 24 version of the core and matching modules—either free of charge or for an additional fee, depending on the warranty terms.

If the machine is out of warranty, we can still perform the upgrade service for an additional fee, which will also renew the warranty period for an additional two years.

For your reference, please find the price list in USD below.

This Yarbo died exactly 1 week after a 2 year warranty.

Is there any validity to what Yarbo is saying? Should I take the motherboard to a repair shop? Can I get a donor board? Or is this thing scrap for parts?

Honestly, I’d take the upgrade. The 24/25 is a significant improvement in a lot of respects and will be supported for at least 5 years with new modules. With the upgraded core, you can get a trimmer, the mower Pro, etc. Those aren’t supported on the old 23 core. If they are offering you a free upgrade or close to free, I would do it. Reset your warranty, get the extended warranty if you want as well.

We’re sorry to hear about the issue. Our field service engineer has thoroughly checked your case before reaching this conclusion.

At this time, we’re sorry that we can only provide the upgrade option for your consideration.

Is it normal for yarbo to last two years before needed replacement board?

Does the new core design have the same flaw. did they change supplier of the boards?

The 23 is the only production model that’s been around for 2 years so far. It’s hard to say it’s normal as there really isn’t a basis for comparison yet. I’ve had my original 24 core and modules since October 2024. Still a little ways away from 2 years.
