Yarbo is programmed so its capabilities are per module. If you create an Area, note the settings for that Area with the SAM on. Now swap in the mower. The settings in the Area are completely different. It makes sense for some things. SAM doesn’t have blade height, for example.
Snowblower has a map element called Sidewalk. It’s like a Pathway only more interesting. If you take off the snowblower module, the Sidewalks disappear from your map. Sidewalks are not supported with any other module. The mower’s version of a type of Sidewalk is a Deadend, which is mower-only.
It’s up to Yarbo’s feature team and developers what is supported where. Patrol is available with SAM, not anything else – at least right now. I believe Follow Me is still only with the SAM, too.
This is the model Yarbo has used to develop its ecosystem to keep things more straightforward and uncluttered for users. However many of us are asking Yarbo to have more capabilities, like Sidewalks and Follow Me, shared across modules.
Completely get it.. the weird part is that with the lawn mower on, it follows a patrol route for navigating between areas, when those patrol routes aren’t even available in the app (to disable).
I have seen multiple reports of this. Please capture video of the core doing this and of the app. Enable issue record before it does it at the bottom of the diagnostics page. Note the time you started it and the time of the incidents. That will help support narrow down the issue.
@alex, are you sure it’s following a patrol route? Yarbo navigates by going through mapped things it knows about, and it will pick a path through an Area to get from one Pathway to another in order to get to where it wants to go. Usually it’s a straight line through an Area, though.
Anyway, Bryan responded to you a little earlier…after quoting me…(???)
Yes, it is… as I have 2 areas beside each other, and a pathway connecting them (straight). the patrol route does a U around a set of trees between the areas (whereas the pathway goes between them).. I’ll try to get a screenshot tomorrow
Well, you and @alex are just too weird for me, @bryan.wheeler, with all this AND a drunk Yarbo.
Time to get data collected for Support. Don’t forget to turn on Recording on the diagnostics screen while Yarbo is waddling through the trees as it shouldn’t be.
As @Ken mentioned, the patrol mode feature is specifically designed for use with the SAM module. Regarding the issue with the “Patrol Routes used for Lawnmower Navigation”, we apologize for the inconvenience. We have reported it to the relevant team for further investigation and resolution.
For now, the patrol routes are treated as “pathways,” which the system uses for navigation, including returning to the docking station. Once the lawn mower completes its task, it will follow the most optimized path, as determined by the automatic algorithm. This is why the mower may follow a patrol route rather than the pathway.
If you prefer not to use the patrol route for navigation, the current workaround is to reattach the SAM module and delete the patrol lines. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused and appreciate your understanding as we work to address this issue.
Here’s the pic’s during a return back.. the U around is the patrol route. I can easily just put the SAM on and delete the patrol routes to solve the problem, but that doesn’t move the product forward.
