What are current best practices around running multiple Yarbo’s on the same site for mowing?

Backing up, the goals are:

  • reduce wear/tear on a single Yarbo for a large property (spread the workload)
  • have a backup ready to go in case one yarbo breaks down (have had this occur twice now with no backup solution)
  • ideally minimize duplicate components and share components - 1 data center (stricter requirement as mounting it is a PITA), 1 property map (I’m not mapping everything again), 1 charging pad (less of a requirement)

I am open to entirely different solutions for these goals.

You currently need 2 data centers if you have 2 cores, unless you only use one at a time and turn the second one off.

With NetRTK, you can share a DC. You cannot do this (reliably) using DC positioning. DC 2.0 when released will support multiple simultaneously (or it is supposed to).

So if you use RTK positioning on one core and use NetRTK on another core, can you use just one DC?

I haven’t specifically tried this, but I believe this would work.

Can they both rely on HaLow, or does one have to use WiFi/Cell?

They both can use the HaLow. Haven’t seen any issues in this configuration, so far.

Well I might just try this out in the next few days. Depends on what Yarbo decides on my new to me fresh refurb condemned core.

Hi there, as our experienced community members mentioned, one possible setup is to use NetRTK for positioning on both Yarbo units. This allows each Yarbo to obtain positioning independently without requiring both units to rely on the same Data Center for positioning.

You can create the property map with one Yarbo, upload the map to the cloud, and then download the same map to the second Yarbo when needed. After downloading the cloud map, please perform a Map Drift Correction if necessary to fine-tune the positioning accuracy.

If you plan to use the two Yarbo units one at a time, this setup can help you share the same map and use a single docking station. For the Yarbo that is not currently in use, you can use the wired charger to keep it powered and ready.

Hope this helps provide a more flexible way to manage multiple Yarbo units on the same property.

Couldn’t you just reinstall the docking station on the 2nd core’s map so both could use their own wireless dock.

Yes. It is documented here the process for sharing maps. Adding the second docking station is part of the steps.
