Basically alters the zig zag in area by the offset you select to keep the tracks from going over the same exact spots each mow.
Ok thanks
Thanks Bryan. I was just trying to figure that out myself.
Just got the firmware, so going through the settings for the 1st time now.
Can you explain a little more? What is zig zag in area? Thanks
That’s the inner portions of the area. Not the perimeter loops, but the rest of it.
@bryan.wheeler Are you sure it isn’t the other way around? The one with the adjustment values in Advanced Settings is for the for the transit routes inside the area. There is a separate Path Offset toggle in the base Area Settings that only appears for Parallel and Adaptive route selections. This is the one that shifts the mowing paths slightly.
Ahh. So my long straight lines it mows in the area will shift by the offset. Thanks.
Is there a way to get it to follow the perimeter and then follow an existing straight line when it goes to finish up a section it bypasses in an area? I keep getting angled lines as it moves to finish parts in the same area.
Not currently. Common ask and I hope it is something they eventually deliver on.
Gotcha. I guess I’m not understanding why you would shift the mowing path more than the width of the bot either direction. I’m missing something fundamental.
Prevent compaction. Same path every time will give you compaction. Unless I missed something.
Sure, shift a tread width each time. After a few you’re repeating. Not seeing why 5 meters is needed?
There are only so many rotations before you end up back into the same lines. Shifting the tracks over into the center of where it was cutting previously is what they are attempting to do here. Basically adding more distribution to the track lanes. More evenly traveling across the whole lawn, vs only a few routes. I don’t know why this couldn’t be applied to all patterns, but maybe that’s just how the math works. I don’t know.
I noticed right away that it couldn’t be used for Checkboard. It sorta makes sense. As soon you start shifting, you’ll wipe out the intended pattern. If I see a wear pattern developing, I just change it 10 degrees.
Yes it confused me too and I went and double checked what they said on someone’s FB post this morning. They definitely need to refine the description but it’s a step in the right direction. At least there is a description!
Agreed. But I’ve seen some straight-up incorrect responses. Was this tech one you know to be experienced?
Why we can’t change “Diagnose Tools” to “Diagnostic Tools” still confounds me ![]()
The response aligned with what I was told when we got the test firmware and I inquired as to what it was. So I think so. It’s definitely something the PPP discussed with Yarbo about implementing. Hopefully they release some Q&A graphics and explainers to cover what each of these are and do: Transit Path, Pathway Offset, and Path Offset.
