What settings do you use at NGZ's and Borders?

I’m tweaking my maps as I have the Yarbo mowing fairly accurately now.

One area that needs improvement is around NGZs and Boundaries.

I set Yarbo to mow perimeter of an area first then the perimeter of NGZs (which I only have 2 of). At the boundary I set buffer at 0 as I have long, straight, unobstructed property lines.

For NGZs I’ve been experimenting with buffer (currently at 4") as Yarbo just doesnt seem to know where he’s allowed to be. As has been noted many times, Yarbo doesnt seem to know his own dimensions and simply use a center point for boundary logic. That simplistic approach fails for so many reasons, but…

If it’s the environment we currently live in what settings have you found that work best for getting all the grass around an NGZ without having Yarbo destroy your wife’s favorite flowers (don’t ask)…

Right now I think there is a bug where it takes some liberties with NGZ’s. For now, I’d recommend keeping that safety buffer conservative until they verify a fix is in place.

I can confirm this. I put a no go zone around a physical large tree, and then while mowing the area I have seen the core back into the tree and climb up it some.

Would there be value in experimenting with dead-ends around the NGZ so that the Yarbo could take 4-6 deadends to mow around a flower bed?

Not sure how deadends work against a NGZ, but if they can get right up against it even if a buffer is set, it may allow for better accuracy at the expense of time.

Just a thought, I haven’t experimented with DEs yet, just trying to come up with ways to “fool” the software into mowing how I want.

Dead ends could work. But it will reverse back down it just as a caution. Also if you overlap them, it may end up backing down one instead of driving forward into it. Make sure you start the dead end out in the open inside an area. Give it plenty of room to maneuver.
