Snow blower module was working great a week ago on driveway “area”, sidewalk “area” and sidewalk “sidewalk”. Now 3 main issues make the unit utterly useless:
-
takes a long time (15-30 minutes) to calculate maps (used to be instant), sometimes failing to finish calculations
-
constantly randomly driving out of area- makes a slight turn in then just heads off of map with full GPS signal
-
some sidewalks that used to take 15 min now take 1.5 hours, with the unit driving back and forth numerous times over the same area, and often stopping and turning before carrying on in the original direction.
Please note, all of these issues occurred instantly after the update. I still have full GPS signal. It appears the map may have shifted by 6-12” but “correcting map drift” has not solved the problem. A couple other things I’ve tried are remapping areas, relocating the dock, creating new pathways, and even adding extra grease to tracks. Nothing has solved the problem- it is rarely able to complete an area and I have instead been snowblowing “manually” with Smartvision. Not that it’s not fun, but I really want it to go on its own again. Anyone else have one or more of these issues start after the most recent firmware update?

Do you have an open ticket? I recommend opening one if not and drop the ticket number here either way. Can you park the Yarbo on the end of the boundary that you mapped and is it lined up on the line in the app?
Hi there, really sorry to hear about the issues you’re experiencing. I’ve checked your support ticket in our system and see that it reflects the same problems you described here.
Could you please let us know whether the troubleshooting suggestions provided by our team have helped resolve the issue? If they haven’t, please let us know and we’ll continue investigating and provide further guidance to help get this resolved.

The suggestions provided by support did not really apply to this situation. Why would new pathways or mapping be required when it was working fine and then all of the sudden after the update stopped working. However, I tested it out after simply adding an additional short 20 foot pathway inside existing areas and sidewalks, similar to what support recommended. This new pathway is entirely redundant with existing pathways. However, to my surprise, issues 1 and 3 appear to be solved (for now?).
The remaining issue 2, where it appears to pivot and go rogue at random times, is possibly due to hitting the snow bank on one side and then getting pulled in to the snow bank. Once it gets off track it continues to head in the wrong direction until out of bounds, which I have changed to 5 feet. This is understandable given the 1-2 feet of snow we have on the ground- the preferred behaviour would be to stop, back up, and try again.
Time will tell if the strange issues were coincidental to the upgrade and if they have really been solved by adding another seemingly useless pathway!

Sometimes weird issues can occur when pathways, sidewalks, dead ends, etc are in or near an overlapping area and are too short. Generally it is recommended for pathways to be at least 3.3ft into each area and cannot start or end in an overlap. Not saying that any of this applies to your situation, but if it does then maybe that’s a partial explanation.

Hi there, thanks for the update and for sharing your detailed observations.
If you’re open to it, it would be really helpful if you could post a screenshot showing the exact change you made to the map that helped resolve the issue. That may help other community members who could be experiencing something similar.
I’m also happy to take a look and help confirm whether the additional pathway is truly contributing to resolving the remaining issues.
Overall, I’m glad to hear things are operating more normally now, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with the community.

This map shows my driveway and sidewalk. The pathway I added that appears to have solved the new problem is the short vertical segment lying on top of the sidewalk paths and driveway.

As Bryan mentioned, when pathways don’t extend far enough into the area, it can sometimes lead to issues. The additional pathway you added likely helped resolve the problem.
