Ok. So I finally got around to unplugging Yarbo’s battery to “reset” the BMS. My max charge has been fluctuation between 82-84% over the past two days. Let’s see what happens after the battery has been disconnected for ~4 hours.
Edit: Battery fluctuates between 82-84% right now.
The anticipation is killing me. My Battery currently charges to 96% and sits there….
Ok. First experiment results-
I disconnected the battery for about 1.5 hours then reconnected it. Yarbo is still not charging past 84%. Fail
Tomorrow‘s first test - Increase the duration to 2.5 hours and see what happens.
I can tell you 4 hours is the recommended time I was given.
I thought i should incrementally increase the duration of time the battery sits unplugged, so we can see if that 4 hour timeframe is accurate.
Not expecting any more snow in the next 48 hours. So it gives me some time to expand my knowledge a bit.
Ok. I pulled the battery today for a full 4 hours.
After reconnecting it, I was surprised to see Yarbo reporting the battery at 100%!! So it went from 82% prior to unplugging, to 100% after the ‘reset’.
This proves that the BMS really did need to be ‘reset’. What’s interesting is that prior to the reset, the BMS and battery were obviously still charging to 100% SOC, but somehow the reporting was off. This resulted in Yarbo’s runtime being diminished as it was returning to recharge sooner than needed.
So the bottom line is - The unplug for 4 hours workaround seems to have worked. I wonder how long it will take until this bug is correctly resolved.
Thanks for your scientific testing and detailed feedback. Definitely does confirm that 100% isn’t a true 100% and a calculated optimized 100% by the BMS.
My pleasure. And thank YOU for informing everyone about the 4 hour reset to begin with.
Nice experimenting, still seems like a bug to me
Has Yarbo ever said anything about this bug? Offhand I don’t recall seeing any acknowledgement of it.
I think it was one of those FAQs cards they posted on FB a while back.
I wish they would migrate everyone here. I don’t really check FB (don’t have an account) or Discord. I feel we lose so much valuable input having 3 different silos of information.
Yea, I very infrequently look at the Facebook groups. I don’t really do Facebook.
This forum is more fun anyway!!
I doom scroll it late at night to go to sleep and some at work. But agreed, you guys are more fun. I do wish there was one source of truth for all information. The Wiki is a good source of truth for most support related stuff, tips/tricks, etc.
Same. You and I are doom scrolling Discord whizzing by each other. Hahaha
Has the battery BMS issue been resolved? My Yarbo charged to 100% today. Our high today was 44F.
Wondering if it’s temperature related?
