Battery Percentage Oddity

This seems to be new, maybe over the past few days. While running a plan, when Yarbo needs to return to dock and charge when the battery gets too low (I have mine set to 20%), it does what I expect: it stops the job, drives back to the pad, and starts charging. What’s very odd, besides the fact that charging seems really slow (could be due to the heat, we’ve been 85 to 90 F the last couple of days), is that after it hits 80% and drives off the pad, the percentage jumps to 100% and it goes about continuing the job. While running after the charge, drain seems to be consistent as if it was actually at 80% when it drove off. It does appear to charge to 100% as normal when the job is finished though (as in, I see it going about 80% into the 90s and then full).

Has anyone else noticed this? Is this something to be expected in higher temperatures? Or maybe a reporting of the percentage bug?

That’s a new one to me.

I’d say after charging to 100%, disconnect the battery for at least 4 hours so the BMS can reset.

That solution works for a slightly different charging related issue, so might work for this as well.

Thanks, I’ll give it a try. It’s in the middle of a work plan now (charging though), I’ll go through the process when done. I have done a full battery disconnect since it started (cleaning grass from the mower), but it was maybe 10 minutes of disconnect.

I second @rgloverii suggestion. This clears up a lot of this type of issue. If it doesn’t, open a support ticket so they can take a closer look.

That’s my plan. It’s definitely odd, and just happened out of the blue. It’s just weird that it does it every time it has to charge partway through a job.

Please let us know what happens so we’ll know for the next time someone has this problem.

Good luck!

Hi there, as others have suggested, could you please try unplugging the battery for at least 4 hours to see if that helps resolve the issue?

If the issue still persists after that, please submit a support ticket with detailed information, including the troubleshooting steps you have already tried. This will help our team investigate the issue more efficiently.

Thanks all. It’s charging now, once it’s at 100% I’ll pull the plug from the battery.

Just to show, here’s a screenshot of the charging over several days:

You can see normal charging initially (from 20-ish percent to 80%, then back down as it did a plan). Then, a few days later, you can see that it went from 20 to 80% normally, then there is a vertical line straight to 100% each time. So at least I know I’m not crazy!

Yep. I also have observed lately that yarbo goes to charge mid-plan and then when it continues, the percentage shows 100% although in settings it’s set to drive off when 80% reached. and according to the time, it did not sit there till full charge. So something odd with battery percentage display.

Have not tired to disconnect the battery for 4 hours as yarbo is on the move almost all the time (when it’s not working, it’s charging)

So not just me then! I am almost to 4 hours of being unplugged completely right now (I unplugged at about noon EDT, and it’s 3:40 pm as I type this). I’ll probably give it another couple and plug it in before I have to run an errand. We’ll see after that!

So, it looks like that took care of it. After plugging it back in and powering up, it was at 100%. I had it mow an area, and it completed that area without draining down too much. I sent it to another area, and it got down to 20%, went and charged, got to 80% (without a magical jump to 100%), and continued on. The battery charge graph looks like I’d expect now too:

I’m going to call this solved! Thanks everyone for the help, hopefully anyone else encountering this can resolve the same way.

Excellent! Glad to hear it.
