About sick of the false obstuction BS

Have a pro mower (newly replaced) that is constantly “detecting” an “obstruction” that is either not there or not actually in the way, and then sends it back to the charger!

Yes some map editing would resolve this, mostly.

Im thinking that some of it is because the grass is kind of long, because I havent been able to mow due to equipment breakages, and I have 2 mowering heads at that place (the other is not a pro) and have struggled to keep up with mowing.

It takes me 3.5 hours to mow the parts Yarbo doesn’t mow so im not that keen on mowing Yarbos lot too.

If I can get any consistency out of this unit I’d set it up to mow everything and just leave me with the weed wacking.

Hey Yarbo Inc if you want a test property to work on. I have the place for you to test on.

No residential, out in the countryside, no one to bother during most days of the week.

Hit me up I have lots of grass and obsticals for you to use.

I recently purchased my leaf blower module and on a few test runs I was getting the same fault. I only used this on my very long and winding driveway, so there are no obstacles to avoid. I turned off the settings in the app and performed another test…all we went very well. I already use the snow blowing module and now I am hoping to be ready for the fall. Hopefully this helps.

They need to make the settings and features work as promised. Turning them off is not fixing the issues.

I think B1 is one of the more capable module. Thing is an absolute UNIT.
I really wish they would redesign the nozzle so it wasn’t in a fixed position. It would rad if the nozzle could rotate/spin/move. @damandrake2

The original design was supposed to be this way. This and rear mounting are my preference. The current blower is fine for its intended purpose of leaf blowing in the yard. However, I want something to blow off my driveway, sidewalks, patios and an articulating blower would be ideal for this. One that rear mounts so I don’t have to swap modules all the time.

I was extremely impressed with the blower last year.

I have a lot of huge maple trees, so let’s just say that clearing up the leaves is not a task I look forward to. The blower really made a huge difference. I was able to create various blower areas that created leaf piles around the property that just needed to be vacuumed or raked up.

I even created some cool areas that would gently blow the leaves off my driveway and into a couple of nice neat piles in the grass.

All that said, you really need to turn off all obstacle detection for the blower to work. And person detection too if you want to watch it work. Otherwise, Yarbo gets scared and confused by the leaves (which is quite ironic considering the task it is trying to do)

Ugh, I have the blower too and I really hope it doesn’t start to false detect like the mower has. I have other bots outside of the Yarbo ecosystem that can pick up the mowing slack, but nothing for leaf or snow blowing like my Yarbo has done in the past

Hi there, we’re really sorry for the frustration and inconvenience this has caused, especially after the equipment issues you’ve already been dealing with.

You may be right that the longer grass is contributing to some of these detections. In our upcoming hotfix, we do have an optimization specifically aimed at reducing false obstacle detections caused by tall grass.

We understand how much this affects the consistency of your mowing experience, and we’re sorry you’ve had to deal with this. We also really appreciate you sharing the details of your property and what you’re seeing.

Do we have an estimated release date for this hotfix?

Support asked me on my open ticket to run my mower in the yard to see if the false object issue is resolved, but I’d much rather wait for the update to roll out and test it.

So far the leaf blower has been working great! Since I only use it on my drive way, which is covered by oak and walnut trees, so far it has worked great. IThe driveway also winds up a hill with retaining wall so I make sure that it stays within the boundaries of the work area. Leaves are already beginning to fall and they will continue until November before they are all done. Hopefully we both will be smiling during the fall and winter months watching our Yarbo work!

Yes I would agree especially for those that have obstacles that need to be avoided.

If you think about it analytically, a flurry of leaves blowing in front of Yarbo can easily be misinterpreted by the vision system as an obstacle.

Similarly, a large pile of leaves on the grass look like an obstacle.

So this is why vision did not work too well last year with the Blower. While I haven’t used my blower this year yet, based on last year’s results I suggest you turn the vision off and just make sure your work area(s) don’t contain anything that Yarbo can bump into. Not a big deal.

I believe Yarbo has given up completely on vision. All that has happened is regression in that area. So sad we all paid for cameras and sensors only to HAVE to turn them off for these products to even function.

I am also looking for a urgent fix - be it a hot firmware fix or a main firmware upgrade. This obstacle avoidance problem is really causing issues.

I have a wire fence surrounding my area and before the last upgrade and the hot fix, the rover (with Lawn Mower Pro) worked very well. With the firmware changes obstacle avoidance began registering obstructions all along the fence and it is constantly maneuvering around nothing. From working acceptable to cannot use - this is a firmware change issue.

This is now keeping the rover a good 3 feet from the fence and with strange cutting patterns caused by the constant maneuvering. I thought it could be caused by shadows but running at different times during the day doesn’t help.

Trying to get the rover to see less obstacles and back closer to the fence I turned off ultrasonic sensors while leaving the recommended moderate bypass setting. WOW! I looked away for a few minutes and found my new, two month old 2026 Lawn Mower Pro pinned under the fence, scratches on the up front right corner, and heard the track popping on the lugs while still trying to move forward but pinned. Good thing the core has an emergency stop button. Because it was pinned so well, I was glad to see the antennas and core were fine.

I have a section, which was easily mowed before, where the mower cuts along the top of a wall with a 5-foot drop to the driveway. No way am I going to use the rover along this stretch with anything less than all safety settings active.

Please move this obstacle avoidance issue fix to top priority - There are many requesting this.

I haven’t run it yet for this year, but last year I had no problem with vision on the blower, and I had tons of leaves, as I always do each fall.

I agree, there are two things that occur with this one it takes Yarbo extra long to finish the lawn when there are ghost items, or even just a weed. The other issue is it’ll keep going around the item and create a large divot in the grass.

We started rolling out the hotfix today, and it is expected to be fully deployed within one week.

Please rest assured that we are not giving up on vision. We know it may feel that way given the issues you’ve experienced, but vision remains an important part of Yarbo’s development.

Improving visual detection takes time and requires us to continuously train and expand the vision dataset across different environments, obstacles, lighting conditions, and real-world scenarios. There is still work to be done, and we know the current limitations have caused a lot of frustration and inconvenience for you and other users.

We’re sincerely sorry for that. We’ll continue working on the vision system and improving its overall reliability and experience rather than giving up on it.

Hi there,

I’m really sorry for the trouble this obstacle avoidance issue has caused, especially hearing that your Lawn Mower Pro ended up pinned under the fence and continued trying to move forward. I completely understand why that experience would make you hesitant to let Yarbo operate near the section with the 5-foot drop.

Please rest assured that we are taking the obstacle avoidance feedback very seriously. We’ve seen the concerns being raised around false obstacle detections and avoidance behavior, and the team is actively looking into ways to improve the overall performance.

For your specific case, especially since you noticed a clear change in behavior after the firmware updates, we’d also like to investigate what happened rather than assume it’s the same cause in every case. Please feel free to submit a support ticket with the details you shared here, and if possible, include any photos or videos of the fence area and the unexpected avoidance behavior. This will allow our team to review the logs and investigate your case further.

Thank you for taking the time to describe the issue in such detail. We know how much this is affecting your ability to use Yarbo normally, and we sincerely apologize for the frustration it has caused.

Thanks for sharing this feedback. We understand how frustrating it can be when false obstacle detections not only make Yarbo take much longer to finish a work plan, but also cause repeated maneuvering that can damage the grass.

For false detections caused by tall grass or weeds, this should be improved with the latest hotfix. We’ll also continue working on the obstacle detection and avoidance performance to further reduce false detections and improve the overall experience.

We really appreciate you pointing out both of these impacts.
