API and SDK formally announced. Coming ‘next month’

Yea, I hope in this new video Ken was speaking of the new CoreBridge module when he referenced the 2027 date.

Hopefully SDK and API are still ‘next month’.

I thought the M series didn’t need a data station at all…?

It needs a DC for HaLow, but not for RTK. It will use the HaLow signal and your internet for the nRTK to work. If you want a local base station (local RTK) so you aren’t relying on the internet for the correction data service, then you would need to upgrade to the optional DC package that includes local RTK.

So basically they are getting their consumers to do all of the R&D for them. While I’m not super happy about the concept, I am really happy that we might finally see these things. I will say, I’m curious if you upload a design that can be 3D printed and requires basic electronics and they don’t intervene, or if they filter everything, take your designs and release them super fast, like 3-5 new modules every month, reduce the price of the entire ecosystem, and give creators 20% of profits for life in their modules. Regardless, the community is about to go crazy, and I’m all in.

Don’t

I have the official YarboHA integration installed. it works. But it’s missing one critical and one really nice to have feature out of the gate.

  • I don’t see a state that confirms the yarbo is in on the docking station.
    • “Yarbo charging” won’t work since the new battery maintenance plan involves stopping charging for a couple hours, then topping off.
    • GPS won’t work 100% for all. My building hight makes for a slow GPS connection. Sometimes it pictures the robot in my living room, until it fully wakes up after I open the app and it catches enough L2’s, or I move it manually
    • I’d like to see some sort of definitive “it’s on the dock” state.
  • Rain sensor. I’d like access to the rain sensor ASAP. It’s critical to my plan control and scheduling logic

I was wishing we had a shutdown button so I could automatically shut it down once it got to 80% SOC… Stop wasting the battery cycles and power(~$.20+/day do do nothing on the charger). Bunch of other stats would be nice too, battery temp, etc, hopefully they’ll get all the diagnostics in there soon.

Really they just need a more advanced battery management strategy.

I’d be happy if I could set an upper charge limit (personally I would chose 80%), then have Yarbo automatically charge up to 100% just before a scheduled task starts.

Completely agree. Definitely have asked for this, as have others.

Hi there, thanks a lot for taking the time to share this—really helpful insights.

I understand how important a reliable “on dock” state and access to the rain sensor would be, especially for automation and scheduling logic in Home Assistant.

If more users are interested in these features, I’ll make sure to consolidate the feedback and pass it along to our product team for further evaluation.

I don’t think it’s a “if more users interested”, it;'s a key piece of data to make the API and HA integration useful and SAFE

With out knowing if it’s on the dock or not, I can’t trust my automatons won’t kick off while towing a wagon.

There is a location/map function of the plugin. Perhaps you could geolocate it based on the dock coordinates and not moving?
