The snowblower module is always going to leave piles of snow anywhere that it turns around and it will occasionally leave parallel stripes between the passes.
My driveway is wider in front of the garage (L shape) which results in a cleaning pattern that is parallel to the garage doors for that part with a perpendicular pattern out to the road. This will always leave a row of snow piles where the straight part touches the garage part. Cleaning that pile up without my help should always be a part of the pattern. It should not be a surprise that it leaves snow behind in that scenario.
The âwork twiceâ option is not an efficient or good way to clean up the snow left behind from the first pass. There is no real point of doing the same thing twice. It will clean some of the snow from the first pass, but it will still leave piles in the same spots every time.
I agree that it is beneficial to clean the perimeter first before the rest of the area, but it is wrong to assume that means the perimeter is snow free at the end of pattern.
At the very least, we need an option to clean the perimeter first and last. Ideally, we should be able to make 2-3 perimeter laps at the end.
If the second âwork twiceâ pass would at least shift the pattern half the width of Yarbo to the right, it would clear any stripes from the first pass.
Personally the only way that I would want to clean the whole driveway twice would be if I had the option to rotate the angle on the second pass like the mower pattern changes each time.
It seems like a 20 degree rotation would result in less snow on the driveway than doing the same pattern twice.
Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback and to explain your driveway layout and real-world usage so clearly. We truly appreciate the thought youâve put into these suggestions.
Regarding your suggestion to clean the perimeter again at the end of the job: after evaluation by our product team, this is not a direction we plan to move forward with at this time.
For the idea of shifting the second âwork twiceâ pass by a certain distance, this is something other users have also raised. We agree itâs an interesting approach, and this feedback has already been shared with our product team for further consideration.
As for rotating the angle on a second full pass, this may not be feasible in the current system. The route is automatically calculated based on the snow-throwing direction you define and the shape of the working area, which limits the ability to apply a rotation in the way mowing patterns can.
That said, feedback like yours is extremely valuable in helping us understand how the product performs in different driveway shapes and scenarios. Thank you again for sharing your experience and ideas with us.
What about changing the pattern for the 2nd pass? Switching between slope, circular and parallel would probably get it all cleaned up. The plow mode already has a dynamic offset option so maybe just making that work for all modules?
Iâm also with Yarbo-Forum, I donât think more perimeters is a good solution, but maybe it is worth a temporary fix while another is found(as an engineer I hate that answer though). Slope mode attacking towards the perimeter is the only real way to get higher banks trimmed. Iâm even getting collision error occasionally on perimeter passes, with slope mode if the bucket it raises it can cut/knock down higher banks usually
Well, for me Iâd like a final perimeter pass after the entire area is done because snow ends up being blown onto the perimeter while Yarbo is working.
So the Perimeter gets cleaned first, then the area gets cleaned and the perimeter gets snow deposited all over it in the process. One last swipe of the perimeter at the end would tidy that all up again.
Developers donât like it either and they always want to focus on the long term solution. I get that, but when you are 3 years in and still wrestling with the same problems, users need immediate solutions waiting for the long term vision to be fully realized. I donât envy their task of striking that balance of what to prioritize and what is low hanging fruit. I feel like adding perimeter passes X2/3/4 is already in the code and an easy thing to do. Everything is easy for the guy that doesnât have to do the work. But in my mind, the code is there, just reuse it. Unless we are getting it (actually getting it) next firmware update.
Yep. Sidewalks will get the job done (unless Yarbo decides to drive backwardsâŚ)
Itâs just âless than idealâ to require end users to continuously come up with workarounds and kludges to fix issues that likely are simple to properly resolve on the software side with enough focus and proper prioritization.
I donât disagree. Theyâll get it there. There were a lot of good surprise features, especially those quality of life type features, in the newest release. Hereâs hoping for more of that in the next.
