Collision recovery issue - can only move backwards

I have an issue where I have a dead-end that Yarbo can sometimes successfully traverse forwards and backward. On occasion Yarbo will get stuck on the corner of a concrete pad while backing up. I will get a collision notification and then I need to manually maneuver the unit to resolve the issue. The problem I have is when a collision occurs the only available option is to back the unit up; the app will not allow you to move forward.

In this case the only way to resolve the issue is to drive the unit forward, which isn’t an option, or as I need to do pick the unit up and drag it away from the obstacle. Is there a setting or other solution that I am unaware of? If I’m manually controlling the unit, why are there restrictions on maneuverability?

That reverse safety is there to protect the unit even in manual mode. If you ran it into something, it would stop on bumper activation. But I see your point. You should pop that as a suggestion into the suggestions topics. If I hold forward for X amount of seconds, it should override the safety and go forward.

For your issue, is the dead end inside a mapped area. Specifically, is this problem spot inside a mapped area? If so, Yarbo will use the entire area to do turns as It assumes it is safe to do so inside an area. This could also be track slippage or if near obstructions like a house, GPS or multipath issues. You may need to remap the dead end and make it a little further away from this section or keep it as straight as possible near problem areas like this. I’d say drop a small NGZ here to push it over some, but for dead ends, it ignores them.

The dead end is not inside a mapped area; it is along a walkway that connects to a mapped area. The issue isn’t related to it turning; it has to do with the Yarbo being off a couple inches when it is backing up. It gets to the end fine but doesn’t follow the exact same path backwards. I am going to adjust it so it is a few inches further out but that doesn’t address my actually issue. I also had it get wedged under my truck once while trying to make a turn in a mapped area and since it was backing up at the time I couldn’t drive it forward to unstuck it. There should be some sort of override to handle edge cases like this. I am new to the forum. Is there a specific place I would submit a suggestion like this?

Bryan, do you happen to know if Clear Error will reset that collision mode?

That’s a good thought. I’ve never tried because I just back it up enough to clear the error and move on. It might actually clear it. It’s worth trying @JNS

I didn’t think to try that. I will test that the next time it happens. I’ll hold off on remapping the dead ends until I can test this.

This has happened to me a couple times. If I “jiggle” the mowing head it usually will let me back up. I think its in some kind of bind and when I “jiggle” it its enough to release the bind.

Kind of like jiggling the handle.

Clearing the error does not reset collision mode. I would assume if there is still pressure on the bumper the collision never gets cleared.

Yes, that’s correct if it’s still in collision, the error would clear (if able to be cleared) and immediately come right back.
