With the Yarbo M Series crowdfunding campaign launching on Kickstarter (March 4, 11:00 AM EST), this is a good time to start a discussion here in the forum. It’s always interesting to look at the M Series from the perspective of real yards and different setups.
A few questions to get the conversation started:
What feature of the M Series stands out to you most so far — the optional LiDAR version, its compact size, or something else? In what scenarios do you think the LiDAR version would be more useful, and when might the standard version be enough?
Are there any specific situations in your yard where you imagine it being especially useful?
Is there anything you’re curious about regarding the Kickstarter campaign or policies?
Every yard is different, and it’s always interesting to see how those differences shape people’s expectations.
This Community Spotlight discussion will stay open for the next 3 days.
I like the lidar, compact size, and how quiet it is. I think the plow is perfect for me since we rarely get snow blower quality snow and snow that sticks around long enough to build up and make the plow ineffective. I’d like the collector module to go pickup the small amount of leaves we get but mostly small sticks and other lawn debris before mowing. Really intrigued to hear more about some of the to be announced tinkerer type features that were mentioned during last nights live stream.
I’m looking forward to my Y series having a little buddy to help in the tighter areas of mowing. Also looking forward to the leaf collection system to pick up what won’t mulch, as well as the inevitable stuff that blows into my yard. The auto dump feature intrigues me.
I also think the price point will bring in more people, which will enlarge the Yarbo community, increasing longevity for our investment. It also increases the number of people we can learn from. In the end, we all benefit!
For me, the M series would be ideal in tackling the ‘fine level detail work’ that the Y series struggles with due to its size.
Weaving around flower beds, planters, and similar landscaping elements is difficult for my Y series. As a result, I have been relying on my Mammotion Luba 2 bots for those types of tasks.
It would be nice to have the M series replace my Luba bots which would give me an “All Yarbo Fleet” to tackle everything from the wide open acreage, to the detail oriented work I mentioned above.
The leaf collector would be wonderful to keep the front yard leaf and debris free throughout the warm weather months. I think that would improve the overall appearance of my yard.
Dense tree cover and tall buildings are the achilles heel for any RTK based robot. This is where Lidar has the advantage. Being able to reliably navigate in those areas where RTK struggles will really make the M series feel more turnkey and user friendly to the average consumer.
To mirror what Bryan said, I can’t wait for the ability to mod (tinker) with the bot to add additional functionalities and integrate with my smart home systems.
Really looking forward to this new ‘baby brother’ Yarbo!
I’m looking forward to the M Series to augment my Y series with better fine detail work and getting into the tighter spaces. I’ve been looking at a dedicated smaller autonomous mower for that job but I think the M series will work out even better.
I’m also looking at purchasing one for our cabin property. The RTK is a no go at that location due to the extreme tree cover but with nRTK, I now may have a good chance of robotic support to help me.
You have to use a different email address for each additional pledge you want to make. It’s a kickstarter issue. As for the deposits, it’s recommend to use the same email address that you use for the kickstarter pledge. Otherwise, you just need to let support know and they can match it up manually when the campaign is complete.
I think you would need to have made two $50 early deposits to get the $250 refund. But you can always buy another at the current kickstarter pricing. Just make sure you use a different email for kickstarter for each additional pledge you want to make. You could reach out to support and see if they’d honor the VIP refund on two with one deposit.
