May want to put this under the “Yarbo Product Talk” category and not “Suggestions and Feature Requests”
I have no affiliation with this channel but here is a pre-production unit being driven around…SILENTLY (except for the mower rattling over bumps")!
Wow. Quiet.
I can only hope Yarbo engineers the big Yarbo drive units to be this quite yet still have high torque AND sell an upgrade kit for all of us to install ourselves.
That would be amazing.
uh…@39:40 Ken says “…we are opening the platform software via an SDK and visual editor, but also through hardware. …people will actually be able to make their own modules” ![]()
I do understand how sometimes Yarbo may say things that sound close but are FAR in the future but man, this coming from Ken in 2026 is good to hear. Here is to hoping it’s true and not too far in the future….and also comes to the big Yarbo.
They definitely want to and I know that’s huge on his list. But priorities can shift and those things may push right. Let’s hope not. I think they’ll push hard for it, but any issues might pull resources at any time. I’m pretty sure the forum admin said somewhere on here too that it is a priority for 26, at least for the API.
Cautiously optimistic. Still waiting for the rear mounting bracket for the leaf blower that was originally promised and tow mode. I don’t mind prioritizing the main core functions over these items, but would love it if we’d get some commitment that it’s coming and projected dates. Don’t necessarily care if those slip for good reasons. It sucks but I get it.
The SDK and hardware modifications Ken is speaking of are applicable to the new M series robots. We discussed it at length during CES. They have big plans for opening up the platform for SmartHome and mod community development.
Unfortunately, there are platform differences which would make it difficult to open the 2024 series platform up in the same way. They can’t easily allow access to say the power and signaling connectors on our Yarbos due to how they are architected.
I get that but it’s disappointing. I’m sure it’s possible but probably not probable due to the investment required.
All of us making so much noise about it has probably helped the future generations so…there’s that.
The 2027-2028 Yarbo Y Series will probably be so cool. ![]()
Yep. It is disappointing. As an Yarbo owner and a tech geek, I am rather eager to customize my Yarbo and make use of the exterior ports. I can think of lots of cool things I’d love to do.
But with this being a first generation product, I understand their dilemma. I’m sure there are a ton of internal Lessons Learned and discussions that sound like “it would have been better if we had designed it this way…”. They can take those learnings and make the M series even better.
I don’t plan on buying an M series right now, but I’m extremely curious and excited to see all of the new features and product enhancements they came up with. I’m expecting it to be a very successful product.
Let’s be clear that API and Home Assistant integration is not what you’re talking about but the user created hardware modules Ken was speaking about. Both units share software so I see no reason (but I don’t know for sure) that they couldn’t bring the API and HA support to the current Y series.
Yes. Good point. I am talking about HARDWARE enabled features, more specifically access to the exterior ports for power, signaling and switching.
I have NOT heard anything to suggest that API or HA integration will be Y series only. My understanding is that those functionalities are still forthcoming for the 2024 series.
I watched the new M-Series video that came through email and noticed something on the back of the M-Series while it’s plowing. Could this be counter weight or are there other ideas?
counterweight
That was my first thought but wasn’t sure if it there were other ideas out there or if someone (probably you) knew more. Thanks for that confirmation.
I’m really loving how this moves around silently.
Interesting. I don’t remember seeing that accessory (counterweight) at CES. I’ll have to look through my pictures and videos. Maybe I just didn’t notice it at the time.
I don’t think it was there at the show.
Yeah it’s amazingly quiet from the videos I’ve seen. And fast! I didn’t get the email they sent with this video. Is there a link you can share?
