I just tossed a nylon sandbag weighing about 30 lbs on the back center. Yes it covers the blinking light but it doesn’t move or slide around and really helps give more weight against the augur head
I have some new gear and am going to turn it upside down.
My testing shows that it doesn’t work very well in that orientation. It’s really hard on the antennas and gets really bad traction. ![]()
Ouch!!
On the bright side. Makes changing the blades or washing the mower deck extremely easy. ![]()
Nice! I wish they’d release something to address this.
What does the rear camera view look like? Curious how the software will see this “obstacle”
Thankfully I don’t think they’ve enabled rear obstacle avoidance yet for the snow blower and since it only zero turns, I guess it doesn’t really matter If it detects an obstacle back there if it is enabled.
There is a buncha snow on it at the moment because it was slicing into snow when it was making moves. I’ll post a pic when I go wipe it off.
rear obstacle avoidance is a promised feature isn’t it?
It is and is enabled for all but the snow blower, I think.
Work before play. No hurry the view won’t change between now and when you get a chance…
What is the difference the weights made for you? Less likely for Yarbo to get stuck due to more traction?
@rgloverii I think it did help with reverse and the zero turns. I had it in some very unfavorable situations and I was impressed.
I took it over to my other driveway which has had that Thanksgiving snow with the ice crust on top now. Probably 8 inches. Power smacked it. Real impressed.
Oh nice! Very good.
Definitely the rear cameras are not used in detecting anything when snowblower is attached.
The counter weights help tremendously. I have 20kg extra weight attached. Without the extra weight, Yarbo was heavy at front so when it thinks it’s stuck in the snow it has not that great chance to get free when backing up. Just lifts the tail when it’s really getting stuck. Extra weight keeps the traction going much better. It also helps the snowblowing on the slope.
I did also added extra weight first as Mr Karrow have done it I was afraid that this extra 20kg on the back part of the tow hitch will sooner than later break the hitch locking mechanism on the core.
So I changed the placement to the top and against the core. I’m this way the tow hitch is not looking that it is in constant strain because of the extra weight.
Oh wow. I only have like 7 kg. 15 lbs
This seems like a nice mod to increase traction.
Unfortunately I can’t immediately do it myself because Yarbo’s dock is too close to the house. The tow hitch will hit my house when it backs into the dock.
