First snowblower run was an epic fail but the plow was AWESOME

We got a couple inches today and my kids went out and cleaned most of the places for me while I was working. I asked them to leave some around the end of the driveway as it was mostly boulders. I haven’t mapped my driveway but instead used the controller to kick off some manual control. As a side note, for some reason, I could not start the auger with the controller, once I pulled out my phone it kicked on without issue. No clue why this didn’t work

I drove Yarbo down to the end of the driveway, kicked up the auger to 3/4 speed and pushed towards the snow cover at the end of the driveway. Keep in mind, I have two ceramic coats on the entire inside of the snowblower module. Literally 15 seconds into it, the shoot was packed tight. I drove Yarbo back to the garage and dug out the packed slushy mess.

Not to admit defeat and have any neighbors laughing at my immediate failure, I attached the plow and headed back out. This was so AWESOME! I’m so glad I got the plow for the slushy stuff and little jobs. I was sitting upstairs looking out a window that overlooks the driveway and plowing the end of the driveway and around the mailbox. My kids were all watching and we were just hanging out pretending the neighbors were now thinking out cool it was.

My one criticism of the plow is the way it attaches, using fine threads on the paddle bolts (not sure the real name of them) is a poor experience. Hopefully the attachment becomes quick release with retaining balls or some other solution because the current solutions is not ideal. It works and I’m glad I have it but it can be improved.

So, I didn’t get to use the snow blower on our first snow but honestly, my Honda HSS1332A will sometimes do the same with a slush mess and I didn’t expect the Yarbo to do any better with it. What my Honda doesn’t have is a plow attachment so that means I am the plow.

Yarbo saved me from having to deal with the back breaking slush boulders and that makes me very happy.

My car is blocking all the good stuff but here is a little taste of me driving it. Thanks @ken.w.gregory for the encoding recommendation!

I grabbed it at time of purchase because I figured I’d rather have it and not use it than not have it and need it in times like this. The Yarbo with plow is now officially a direct replacement for me with a shovel.

Had you removed the plastic diverter at the base of the chute? That helps. I agree on the plow. I hate the way it mounts. Yarbo needs to fully embrace quick attach for everything. No screws!

I have the diverter intact. I think I’ll focus on using the plow for the wetter stuff and the blower for everything else.

Congrats on the first Yarbo snow run! Unfortunately, heavy wet snow is a significant challenge for any snowblower.

i had my first snowblowing run a couple of days ago. It was also super wet and heavy. I found that running the auger at max speed worked pretty well (but eats the battery pretty quickly). Also, I learned not to stop the auger if there’s still wet snow inside, because it’ll immediately try to solidify and clog.

Side note - I was a bit lazy, and didn’t bother taking the plow out of the box. Instead, when the snow became too wet to blow anymore, I just used the snowblower with the auger OFF as a plow. It pushed the snow jsut fine, no ‘plow’ required!

This is very common. Even flipping it into plow mode without a plow. Only recommendation is to get it cleaned out very well after or it will become a frozen solid mess. Thawing out in the garage overnight is helpful for this.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I had flipped it into plow mode.

I had originally planned to actually try out the automated plow mode, but ended up just remote controlling it from inside the house. Pushed the snow like a boss. No literal plow required.

Thanks for sharing your feedback, and we’re really glad to hear that the plow blade worked well for clearing the wet snow. We also appreciate your suggestion regarding the plow blade installation experience — that’s very helpful. I’ll make sure to share this with the relevant team.
