Snows coming. Suggestions

Any optimization suggestions to get the most out of the snowblower?

Hi there,

You can refer to the Yarbo Weekly News archive for some helpful insights: Yarbo Weekly News Archive .
In addition, here are a few tips that may come in handy:

1. Yarbo winter tracks are equipped with metal studs—please be cautious if your unit will operate on delicate surfaces.

2. Keep an eye on the auger height and adjust it according to your conditions.

3. For wet snow, using the plow blade is a good option.

4. Applying a ceramic coating to the snow chute can help improve Yarbo’s performance.

What type of snow do you get, how much, how often, what type of surfaces are you planning to clear. Some more context can help get some specific tips for you and your situation.

I’m going to be ordering the plow blade, but I’d like to know are there any new plow blade releases expected soon? Like ability to change angle or a specific plow module? Also, is there a special mode that deals with using the plow blade as opposed to the blower alone? And lastly, is it easy to attach and remove? Be nice to see some videos of the plow blade in action.

I’d like to see the plow blade lift so blower and blade could be used without dismantling.

The plow is pretty easy to attach. You remove the front guard with a few screws. The plow inserts inside the snow blower and then there are spring loaded screws (3 on each side) that screw in place of where the guard was. You can install them by hand because they have a big plastic handle. There is a toggle in the app when the S1 is attached to enable plow mode. This sets the pattern to go side to side.

I pulled this video off of Yarbo’s Snow Blower Product page. Here

@Bob_Shadis Hello Bob, thanks for your interest in the plow blade. Regarding your questions:

  • We don’t have any new plow blade releases planned at the moment.

  • When the plow blade is attached, there’s a dedicated Plow Mode. You can find details here: [2024] How to use plow mode? | Yarbo Wiki

  • Installation and removal are straightforward. Please see the video How-to: Install Plow Blade for the step-by-step process.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Thanks Brian! I slowed this down to quarter speed, and I see that it does a perimeter lap, then seems to cut the driveway in half, then side to side it’s clearing top half then bottom half. Is this by default, or did the dude somehow set it up to work that way? Also, I guess the trick is plow early and often on warmer wet heavy events? Otherwise, how does the rover react if that initial perimeter push ends up with a pile of wet snow that is too big and heavy to push forward? What does it do? Would be nice to see videos where the rover is tested with extremes to see how it responds to more extreme challenges.

Seems like a lifetime ago since I played with it. I don’t think there was much configuration you could do there. If it gets too much and spins, it will back up and try a few more times. Kind of ramming it. The bad thing about it is that it builds up the snow along the boundary. It makes it harder to run the snow blower later. It is best for wet snow when the snow blower is struggling with that.

Thanks again Bryan! I reckon there’s always a way to manage it. I’m retired so will almost always be around to do some manual intervention. I plan to still mount my snow blower to the tractor for the winter just in case, but it’s gonna be really nice to have options. Do you know anyone who’s using more than one dock station? Thinking about getting a second one just for winter to plant next to the driveway. Can both be active or do you have to choose one and use the move dock station menu to choose which is being utilized?

I know several and I’ve done it. Only one can be active at a time though. It’s just a toggle to enable the one you want. It automatically disables the active one. Just add a docking station when you install the second one, don’t do the DS reinstall procedure in the app.
