Super wet snow today

We got super wet slushy snow overnight. Absolutely not possible to use the snowblower to clear this stuff.

Thankfully Plow mode is handling things pretty well. It’s out there working right now.

As with last time, I’m not using the actual plow blade (it’s still in the box). The auger plows just fine. Scoops and pushes the snow just as I would expect.

Great content. That swap out to the plow is impossible without a heated garage.

I’ll be honest - So far, I don’t see ANY reason to install that plow blade when shoveling snow with Yarbo.

If anything, the scoop shape of the auger keeps more of the snow from just being pushed off to the sides like what happens with a plow blade.

You are helping my plow envy….

I mean, it’s just the start of the winter season so my opinion might change later, but right now I’d say DON’T buy the plow.

That said, does anyone know a reason why it’s better to use the actual plow versus just ‘plowing’ with the auger off?? Maybe I’m missing something.

Using it as a plow, could the snow collect in the auger and freeze?

So far, doesn’t seem to be doing that. The snow mostly falls back out of the auger when it backs up.

Some remains in there of course, but it doesn’t seem to be accumulating into a solid hard brick of wet snow like you might imagine.

Yes. This is the reason. If you’re OK with thawing it out afterwards, it’s a good method and a lot of people do it.

Keep us posted how it goes. Hopefully it doesn’t freeze up too much in there. As long as you have antifreeze mode on, you should be OK I guess.

Well, nothings ever perfect…

For the first time, Yarbo got stuck in the grass/dirt/mud trying to zero turn back into the dock. I knew it would happen eventually, but unfortunately today was the day.

So I had to get the cold weather gear on and go out to rescue it.

Lesson learned: Don’t procrastinate installing the paver tiles you bought to put in front of the dock.

Now might be a good time before the ground re-freezes.

Wanna come over and help???

Shoot me your GPS coordinates. I’ll be on my way.

I would be worried that using the blower as a plow might put stresses on the drive and bearings on the auger and blades such as side loading that it wasn’t designed for. Obviously this depends on depth and consistency of the slush but I would be careful not to overload it. Without the motors running you aren’t monitoring the stresses on the unit.

Just a thought

I was thinking you could practice on yours then come on over and do mine.
