Increase SAM funtionality

First off, love this device. But the SAM module could be better. i want to use it more as a patrol unit but I don’t and here’s why.

I think this module should use the cameras a little bit more efficiently. When the Sam is patrolling, it only sends an alert to my phone, which is not as helpful as it could be. I want the cameras to take a picture of what it sees if it does alert on something and send it to my phone. this would be way more useful to me so I know whether it’s a false alarm or not. Secondly, if someone attempts to steal my robot, I would like it to take a picture using all cameras to try to track or capture what it last saw before it left signal. The speaker is good but again, could be better by making more use out of the other features the robot has.

So currently I keep my robot stored away until it’s time to cut the grass and that’s really unfortunate. I really hope you guys make this a priority and it can gain some support.

The SAM is pretty useless to me. The core is 99.9% of the time going to have another module on it like the mower. All modules should support the same features that SAM supports. I definitely do not ever see me swapping out to the SAM unless I needed the smaller form factor for some reason or needed to troubleshoot a module issue.

Do you find the SAM useful or would you also not use it if the features were available on the other modules (including the ones you suggested)?

  • In our early Patrol Mode design, we did consider capturing photos when an alert is triggered. We’ll share your interest in this with our product team.

  • Your anti-theft idea—using all cameras to capture images before the unit goes out of range—is also a great point. I’ll pass this along as well.

You have a good point honestly I haven’t really used it that much outside of towing, but I was hoping to see more utility features included.

I’m glad they’re taking my idea to heart, that’s awesome.

The SAM would be an excellent rear mounted option.

I noticed that camera on SAM (Front on the image) is times darker than side and rear cameras by monitoring Patrol run during the night. Do you have the same issue?

Yes it’s a known issue with the v2 firmware cameras.

Hi there, it looks like the front camera’s auxiliary light may not be turning on. If you continue to notice that the light isn’t activating, could you please submit a support ticket? Our team will be able to look into it more closely for you.

Or maybe you will fix it already during the winter.
